North Korea threatens nuclear war. Don't you love how well all that talking with NK is working out? Congratulations Clinton, Bush and now Obama. Together you guys allowed one of the most poverty stricken backwater nations in the world to to become a major power through nuclear blackmail. And I see no evidence we're going to do anything but allow the NK nuclear threat to grow. We should be bombing NK's nuclear program back into the stone age as we speak. If China complains, we should calmly remind it that without support from China, NK would not have any nuclear weapons and therefore we hold China responsible for any use of nuclear weapons by NK.

I would say a disarmed Palestinian state is unfair to ask for. Disarming Hamas and Hezbollah is one thing, but denying an entire nation the power of self-defense is a non-starter, imo.

Bad news for everybody but Republicans is after five months of Obamanomics, Americans trust Republicans more than Democrats on the economy. Republicans haven't changed a thing, but Americans have once again realized that Democrats are always worse, Republicans won't have to change a thing. Thanks to Obama's radicalism our economy is going to continue getting worse, it will remain the hottest issue in America, so Republicans are off the hook. The strategy of being anti-Democrat is working for them just like the strategy of being anti-Republican worked for Democrats. If Republicans can win back control of the House in 2010, that will be good for everybody because one party rule is ultra-destructive, but only temporarily. Since Republicans are only slightly less bad than the Democrats and they haven't changed a thing, our country is going to continue it's headlong race toward collapse.

Obama's spending already backfiring on him.

George Will hopes the courts will stop GM's bankruptcy. I think that's unlikely, but we can hope.

Apparently the election in Iran was rigged to give Ahmadinejad a powerful mandate. Obama and Hillary look like the fools they are. I predict they ultimately will meekly sit on the sidelines while Israel takes out Iran's nuclear facilities. I don't think Obama will toss away his presidency by blocking Israel and enabling Iran to develop the bomb. I also don't think, despite his phony rhetoric about a non-nuclear world, that he'll take a stand against Iran developing the bomb.

A Grand Ayatollah in Iran says Ahmadinejad's election is fraudulent and goes against Islam. Uh-oh. Ahmadinejad's election monitoring agency calls the election a fraud.

Steve Hayes misunderstands Obama. He doesn't care people. Not the people of the US. Not the people of Iran. All he cares about his power and lording it over others. He isn't going to stand up for the Iranian people. He's going to going to deal with Ahmadinejad and Khamenei.

Domestic terrorist, bomber and Obama partner Bill Ayers. Describing the current financial crisis, Peter Schiff also explains that the Fed caused the recessions that started the Great Depression, stagflation and the current economic crisis.

In a detailed analysis Victor Davis Hanson breaks down Obama's fantastic number of lies, categorizes them and then offers an explanation why Obama lies more prolifically and frequently than even the most dishonest politicians.

Obama's choice for GM CEO has a history of playing corrupt Chicago politics with the Obama team. Is anybody surprised?

Newt Gingrich wonders why the press is AWOL in reporting the obvious failure of Obama's economic policies.

Rich Lowry praises Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.

Why are we playing a game with Russia at all? Russia is no threat to us. This is a European problem, and we need to end our security welfare to Europe so they'll have the power to deal with it.

Peter Schiff on lawlessness and crony capitalism in the US."
"Crony capitalism” is a term often applied to foreign nations where government interference circumvents market forces. The practice is widely associated with tin-pot dictators and second-rate economies. In such a system, support for the ruling regime is the best and only path to economic success. Who you know supersedes what you know, and favoritism trumps the rule of law. Unfortunately, this week’s events demonstrate that the phrase now more aptly describes our own country.

When making their investment in Chrysler just a few months ago, the Indiana pension fund agreed to commit capital because of the specific assurances received from the company. In allowing this sham bankruptcy to be crammed through the courts, we have shredded the vital principal of the rule of law, and have become a nation of men, rather than one of laws.

The risk that legal contracts can now be arbitrarily set aside will make investors think twice before committing capital to distressed corporations. Oftentimes enforcing contracts imposes hardships. That’s precisely why we have contracts.

Without absolute faith that deals will be honored, it will be extremely difficult for U.S. companies to borrow money. This will be particularly true for those companies already struggling with too much debt. Without the ability to issue secured debt, how will such companies access the necessary capital to turn around? If secured creditors cannot count on the courts to enforce their claims, they will not put their capital at risk. What good is being a secured creditor if courts can allow the assets securing your claim to be sold for the benefit of others.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, testimony on Thursday from former Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis revealed a concerted effort on the part of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to pressure Lewis into hiding relevant financial information regarding Merrill Lynch losses from B of A shareholders. Recently released e-mails make it clear that the government threatened to remove corporate leaders if they failed to go through with the merger and keep quiet about the losses.

More importantly, the fact that two of the highest-ranking government officials can conspire to violate both securities laws and private property rights is abhorrent to everything America supposedly stands for. If they get away with it, which I believe they will, the precedent and the message will be chilling.

As a broker who specializes in foreign investments, I am always wary of political risk. I must consider how the threat of arbitrary government action could undermine the value of my investments. However, recent events show that political risk is now greater here than abroad, and U.S. assets, which have historically traded at premium valuations based on faith in our legal system, will soon trade at discounts to reflect this new threat. The fear of having contracts abrogated or property rights violated when doing so serves some contrived greater good will substantially raise our cost of capital and further reduce our competitiveness."
This is another example part of the process of our decline into a third world country.

Michigan reverting paved roads to gravel. Another example of the decline of America into a third world country.

How Americans checked their brains at the door and treated the last two presidents as gods. Yuk!

How does paying teen mothers not to get pregnant make any sense? They already got pregnant and had a kid. Is this sexist? How come nobody pays teenage boys not to get pregnant? Could it be there are differences between men and women?

This is what happens when government tries to save jobs from creative destruction. Jobs are an product of wealth creation. They don't create wealth in and of themselves.

Nutrition analysis of specific beers.

Young Japanese women attracted to masculine warlords from Warring States period. Uh-oh.

Seven surprising ways to keep your brain young.

"No other country in the world has as many total immigrants from all countries as the United States has immigrants from Mexico alone. Other than the U.S., the country that hosts the largest number of immigrants is Russia, with 12 million foreign born, many of whom are natives of countries that were part of the former Soviet Union." Wow.

Cato rips Karl Rove, and says Democrats should name him their man of the year. Good for Cato.

Citizen grand juries indict Obama for treason on the grounds doesn't meet the qualifications to be president. I still don't know how this citizen grand jury thing works. I think the charge is silly. Questioning Obama's birthplace and citizenship is not the same as having evidence he's not a natural born citizen or an American. But I'm intrigued by the process. Apparently the Supreme Court recognizes the grand jury as a fourth, independent branch of government.
