Free kibbles

EU expresses strong concern over Russian missile plan. That'll scare the Russians.

The left continues to propagate the myth that Obama must restore the US' image abroad. What they really mean is that Obama just restore the US' image with the minority of foreigners who are liberals, especially in the foreign media. The US is doing just fine with regular foreigners, as we've seen with the pro-American, pro-conservative shifts in Canada, France, Germany, and the UK. I think that's the real concern of US liberals. They fear the world will follow the US toward conservatism instead of the US following the world toward liberalism.

US to sell mini-nuclear reactors capable of powering 20,000 homes. Excellent.

China announces $568 billion stimulus. Paid for with US taxdollars. Thanks, government.

The never ending charade in Washington begins anew. Republicans once again chose John Boehner minority leader, proving they have no desire to change their ways, but on Friday, Boehner wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post in support of freedom and limited government. What a joke. Does he really think we don't know that he was one of Bush's lieutenants in the Bush big-government bonanza? But that's how the 2 parties stay in power. When Republicans are in power, they have no desire for freedom and limited government, but Democrats claim they do. When Democrats are in power, they have no desire for freedom and limited government, but Republicans claim they do. It's a charade to keep the country divided and keep the 2 parties in power, and the party faithful fall for it every time.

Once again the self-deluding moderates who supported Obama are proven to be the fools the rest of us knew they were. Moderates were claiming the Obama would govern from the center. Other moderates suggested Obama would be limited by the economy. Even Peggy Noonon says Obama has a mandate for moderation. Apparently they didn't pay attention to Obama this election. I guess they weren't paying attention when Obama said he would raise capital gains taxes out of "fairness" even though it would reduce federal revenues because it would hurt the economy. I guess they weren't paying attention when Obama stuck his finger in the wind and pretended to be a moderate to get votes, even though his primary campaign, his political record, and his entire life history prove that he is a dangerous, liberal extremist. Proving all these moderates wrong again, Obama's aids say he won't compromize his agenda because of the economy. Obama will happily run the US economy into the ground to achieve his Marxist and black liberation theology goals.

David Boaz provides an excellent post-mortem on the election, showing that this election was a repudiation of big-government, not an embrace of progressivism. Boaz shrewdly points out that we're not suffering from lack of government. He's also right on the money when he explains that the electorate's concern about Obama lifted McCain more than 20 points above Bush. This election was no mandate for Obama - it was punishment for big-government. Bush and his big-government Republicans drove libertarian minded people away. The great mainstream of America is still libertarian in nature, and both parties are working hard to alienate it.

2006 policy analysis by Boaz and David Kirby identifies libertarians as swing voters and predicts Republican losses in 2006 and 2008 because of Bush and Republican big-government. Quite prescient.

John Stossel explains that, contrary to what the media and many people think, the president does not run the country. The president's job is to preside over the federal government. Period.

George Will points out some ironies of the election.

With his usual flair, Mark Steyn explains that the US has lurched to the left once again, we really had no choice since McCain was a liberal and Obama is a radical liberal, and we are near the tipping point at which America as we know it will disappear forever.

An Australian points out another tremendous irony of this campaign - Obama's election proves that the left's vision of America is, as every reasonable person has always known, baloney.

Brit columnist says that now we have to know what change means. That's dumb. We needed to know what change meant before the election, when we had the power to vote for it or against it. Now it's too late.

Chicago columnist calls Obama's win a huge victory for Chicago. I'm sure after Obama appointed another Chicago political machine insider, Rahm Emanuel, as his chief of staff, she was doubly happy. But bringing Chicago's pervasive corruption, cronyism, and nepotism to the White House is a huge loss for the American people. It's bad enough that Chicagoans put up with all encompassing corruption. That Americans would do the same is far worse.
