Putin has opened a debate about American exceptionalism. As usual, he's wrong and our rulers are wrong. American exceptionalism has nothing to do with bombs or bullets, invasions or war. It has everything to do with economic freedom and the prosperity, security and civil rights that follow from economic freedom.
