Tax and Spend

Discussing a possible shutdown, the AP confuses Wall Street with the economy.

Lew Rockwell's analysis from 1996 shutdown.

Panda cam would go dark during a shutdown.

The latest propaganda wants us to believe that shutting down the government will cost us money.
"If past shutdowns are any indication, closing down the federal government will cost American taxpayers, according to the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Budget."
Bipartisan is a four letter word.
"And all those federal salaries that aren't being paid? No savings are likely. Although furloughed workers are not guaranteed reimbursement, in past shutdowns they have received retrospective compensation for hours lost."
Don't do that then.

National parks may close.

Working feds get overtime and weekends.

DHS employees will continue to oppress us. Government will not shut down the police state.

Government has shut down 17 times since 1976, and nothing has changed.

Pat Buchanan defends Republicans based on polls, but Republicans aren't fighting Obamacare because of principle.

The shutdown has officially begun.

Government agent Google pays only 12 million pounds in income tax in UK.
"Google was also accused of a ‘sleight of hand’ by not including the £3billion sales figure in its UK accounts, which suggest that it accumulated sales of only £506million, leading to profits of £36.8million.
But the £3billion figure for UK sales is included in its US accounts. The online search giant has long claimed that its UK operations are a service arm of its Irish division."
Google is obeying plutocrat law. Every plutocrat does it. We should not attack Google for this. We should hope every person joins them in paying so little.

The Polish government defaulted on bonds held in the private sector.
"The government announced a 100 percent default on these bonds."
That's not a haircut. That's cutting foolish investors off at the neck. It's going to happen to US bond holders too.
