Investigators found the lid to a pressure cooker on a Boston rooftop, but they still have no suspects. The Huffington Post reports investigators have discovered video of a man apparently placing the second bomb, but the Boston Globe article it references says no such thing. Here's an interesting quote:
"“We’re talking Al Qaeda inspired but not trained,” said Ash, head of forecasting in North America for Exclusive Analysis Ltd., an IHS affiliate that analyzes relevant political and violent risks around the world. “The person who made this type of weapon had some type of training or at least some type of practice. It wasn’t a Molotov cocktail, but it wasn’t a truck bomb. It was between the two. It’s low capability, but something that would require training or practice to produce.”"The CNN article referenced reports,
"Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told CNN's John King exclusively.I wonder if this is the mysterious black man in a black hoodie. Megyn Kelley reported that two police sources claimed an arrest had been made. The AP reported that an arraignment had been scheduled. Those reports were wrong. No arrest has been made. Here's another discrepancy.
The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development."
Government officials keep telling the media bad information. Instead of cleaning the government house, the FBI throws the media under the bus.
"Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack. Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting."What a fiasco.
Third Boston marathon victim identified as Chinese grad student.
FBI postponed 5pm press conference, citing bomb threat at courthouse. A Boston Globe reporter claims the courthouse was evacuated because of all the media people, not a bomb threat. Supporting this, courthouse reopens to employees only. If the FBI has a photo, why haven't they released it and asked people to identify him? Now Foxnews reports police have photos of two men which are being distributed but not released to the press for fear of endangering the investigation. This seems odd. Apparently anybody seen with a backpack is a suspect. Despite all government's surveillance at this heavily secured event, they police had to ask for private video.
The Daily Mail has a better Boston update than US press. It describes the video and claims the suspect is dark skinned.
"The FBI said there has been 'substantial progress' in the Boston bombing investigation after they analyzed surveillance footage shot from a nearby department store which showed a man planting the second bomb.Another discrepancy. The person singled out in these pictures doesn't look dark skinned to me.
Investigators said the individual is seen at the site of the second explosion wearing a black jacket, a grey hooded sweatshirt and a white or off-color-white baseball cap backwards placing a back-pack on the ground while talking on his cellphone.
The video obtained by the FBI captures this man using his cellphone at the moment the first explosion detonated 100 yards away on Boylston Street on Monday and 12 seconds before the second blast close to where he is standing.
Federal agents then focused on the time-frame of that conversation to retrieve cell-phone records to identify potential callers according to CBS News.
Call logs were then obtained through the cell phone masts surrounding the attack zone and using these, investigators matched up the users' identity with the time specific video and pictures to zero in on the individual."
"And by late afternoon there were conflicting reports about the color of the man in question - CNN suggested initially that he may be 'dark skinned', while CBS News claimed he is white."
Despite this gross failure of government, expect to see more of the police state. According to Glenn Greenwald, Brian Williams, carrying out his role of propagandist for the government perfectly, stated,
"Everyone has to understand tonight that, beginning tomorrow morning early, there are going to be much tougher security considerations all across the country, and however exhausted we may be by that, we're going to have to learn to live with them, and get along and go forward, and not let them bring us to our knees."In other words, because government failed so badly, we have to bend over and take it from government harder than ever. This is an example of the lesson we're supposed to learn after every attack: we have to give up freedom for more security. It's false. Government oppression, aggression and violence makes us less safe. The government goes out in search of enemies to make, foreign and domestic, makes them, and those enemies respond by attacking us. The phenomenon is called blowback. It's well understood. But politicians and bureaucrats don't care. They profit from attacks on us, so they instigate more of them.
The media is rooting for the Boston attacker to be a white male conservative or libertarian.
