Free kibbles

REGULATION:

Mitch McConnell says Obama's over-regulation created bureaucrats on steroids. Like Bush's policies didn't. With great sound bites comes great hypocrisy.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

Banks tapping other stolen government funds to pay off TARP so the politicians can say it made taxpayers money.
"Most of the 627 banks that still hold money from the controversial Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, have filed applications to roll the obligations into the government’s new Small Business Lending Fund, according to Treasury officials and the banks."
Hardly.
"“Whether by intent or design, it is really turning into little more than a bailout of TARP,’’ said Neil Barofsky, former special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program and now a senior fellow at New York University School of Law. “It’s a rebranding of the same thing.’’"
It's a fraud intended to fly below the radar while making TARP look good.
"Some banks, such as Mercantile, would already qualify for the 1 percent rate because they have already boosted their lending over the past year. If banks can’t increase their lending, however, the rate will go up to 7 percent after 2 years and 9 percent after 4 ½ years."
So the government is also using it as leverage to coerce banks to make loans and increase inflation as if it wasn't high enough.

In an attempt remain relevant, Newt Gingrich will attack the Fed. This is more evidence that the freedom agenda championed among the ruling class only by Ron Paul is driving American political values.

Canadians celebrate introduction of banknotes that last 2.5 times a long as worthless, paper bank notes. That's like celebrating the introduction of a new poison that costs 2.5x less to produce.

EDUCATION:

So-called experts are suddenly learning the value of child's play without adult supervision. The more I read about experts, the more impressed I become with how dumb they are. It reminds me that modern education isn't about making a person more intelligent. It's about brainwashing them to be stupid. We never had this problem in math, science, engineering or computers. 2 + 2 always = 4. V always = I * R. A for loop always behaves the same. But government has corrupted every aspect of education that isn't exact.

HEALTH CARE:

The establishment is increasing its propaganda about whole grains to the great detriment of the American people.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

While taxpayers have been funding global warming fraud James Hansen at NASA, he's earned $1.2 million as a global warming activist over the last four years.
"ATI seeks to learn whether NASA approved Hansen’s outside employment, which public financial disclosures and other documents reveal to have brought him at least $1.2 million in the past four years. This money comes on top of and, more troubling from an ethics and legal perspective, is all “related to” and sometimes even expressly for his taxpayer-funded employment, all of which outside employment commenced when Hansen stepped up his “global warming” activism from his perch at NASA."
We're funding the people who are trying to impoverish us, and it's not limited to the global warming crowd.

Kinder, gentler Nazi Al Gore promoting population control.

Using the magnetic field from light to produce electricity.

POLITICS:

I wonder why Huntsman got into the race this late. Nobody knows him. He has no chance. So arguably the most liberal of the candidates, the guy who plans to run to Romney's left, the guy most most likely to draw fire for his liberalism and working in the Obama administration, pledges to be civil. Imagine that. I wonder if Huntsman isn't running as a lightning rod to draw fire from Romney.

I agree that linking our declining standard of living to government is a successful strategy That's why for decades I've been explaining to people that libertarianism is the ultimate populist movement. I've been linking our problems to government here every day for years now. It's why I keep saying we have to cut government dramatically so people can reap tremendous rewards and know that those rewards came from the cutting of government. That will generate support for even bigger cuts to government. It's too bad I didn't find the Mises guys a couple of decades ago.

Gingrich's top two financial advisors quit.
"Newt Gingrich's top two fundraising advisers resigned on Tuesday, and officials said the Republican candidate's hobbling presidential campaign carried more than $1 million in debt. The departures of fundraising director Jody Thomas and fundraising consultant Mary Heitman were the latest blow for the former House speaker who watched 16 top advisers abandon his campaign en masse earlier this month, partly because of what people familiar with the campaign spending described as a dire financial situation."
Gingrich's campaign looks pretty pathetic about now. I don't care about Newt's line of credit at Tiffany's. More power to him for being able to afford that. But his management of his campaign finances and his campaign staff are important.

Democrats smack down House Republicans by refusing to vote for funding the Department of Agriculture, forcing Republicans to vote to fund it en mass. This is a good reminder that Republicans support smaller government through rhetoric only. In actions, they always support big government.

Claim that Rick Perry is running, and always planned to run.

MEDIA:

I think Lew Rockwell's political blog is as much about using the keyword "Ron Paul" to bring readers to his site as it is about promoting Paul's candidacy.

LOCAL:

Only government could spend $1 million to sandblast and repaint a water tower.
"Smith said rehabbing water towers is expensive, because of a limited number of companies that do the work."
Why are there limited companies? Government.

MISC:

Facebook losing users. I'm surprised this took so long. It's a crappy tool.

Sex robot with a personality. Chinese manufacturer reduces the price. Look for this to be a rapidly growing market. It might be the end of the human race.

Apple fanboys rationalize why Apple is a good company (it's upscale) and Microsoft is a bad company (it's not) even though both use IP and other government interventions to charge more for their lower quality products. I don't like Apple products or Microsoft products, so I see how both loot us. Microsoft is worse because its been at it longer, and to their credit, that point is made in the discussion. That's why Microsoft was more vulnerable and Google is eating their lunch. Apple is going down the same path. Another Microsoft website abandons SilverlightThis is a good example of how corporations in bed with government become too big and inefficient because they don't have prices to guide them.

It's looks like bitcoin has been exposed. All those computer cycles wasted...

I'm skeptical that a shipboard laser could shoot down artillery shells any time soon. How long has the government been developing lasers to shoot down missiles without that becoming the norm?
