Free kibbles

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Obama pressures multiple countries to pursue criminal charges against Wikileaks head Julian Assange and block him from traveling.

Tony Blankley exposes himself in the even more dangerous way than you might think, calling for surrendering civil rights, the death of investigative journalists (like any exist) and the trial and punishment (including death) of Wikileaks leader Julian Assange. This is a powerful reminder that government aristocrats are serial killers as well as looters. How date Assange expose the criminality of our war in Afghanistan.

TAX AND SPEND:

The typical government worker, who works in a parasitic job, sucking wealth from the American people for personal gain, earned twice as much as the typical private sector worker who pays his salary by creating wealth for everybody.

People lined up for housing vouchers turn unruly in Atlanta.
"People began lining up two days ago, and by Wednesday morning the crowd had grown to around 30,000 people. East Point police, some wearing riot helmets, were patrolling the area. Firefighters and EMTs were attending to people who were overheating in the sun. Police from College Park, Hapeville, Fulton County and MARTA assisted in crowd control."
Government handouts corrupt everything they touch and inevitably lead to violence. The bigger government gets, the more corrupt it gets, and the more violent it becomes and the more violence it inspires. Greek-style riots are in our near future.

REGULATION:

One of my favorite musicians, Joe Jackson, attacks nanny state cigarette bans. Good for him.

EDUCATION:

Boortz reports: "[T]otal education spending grew by 32% percent between 1999 and 2009, while K-12 enrollment has grown by less that 1% each year over the same time period." The central government seized more control over government schools, and the result is lower quality education. Money is not the problem. Government is the problem.

WAR:

NATO reaches goal of training 240,000 Afghans for military and police duties. Then bring our troops home. The State Department doesn't include the Taliban in its list of terrorist organizations. And it shouldn't. The Taliban are fighting a civil war and should no more be called terrorists than the Afghan gang they're fighting against.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:

About five percent of children in the US are children of illegal immigrants. That's crazy.

POLITICS:

Incumbents were the big winners yesterday.
"If you are banking on the voters taking out their frustrations on incumbents in the Congress this year, you were disappointed again on Tuesday, as every single incumbent on the ballot in four states was victorious."
But were they Republicans or Democrats? I would expect Democrat incumbents to win their primaries. It's Republican incumbents who are likely to be evicted by the tea partiers. You know, it should be easy to find this out, but I haven't found it in 15 minutes of searching. News organizations suck. As far as I can tell, the only national incumbent who won was Democrat Bennett in Colorado.

LOCAL:

Our good Republican mayor supports a "temporary" tax hike because the Dayton aristocrats don't want to cut spending. There's no such thing as good government or a good politician.

Here's a nice government school stupidity story: Government schools in Huber Heights started today, Aug. 11, the hottest part of the year in Ohio, but since 6 of 10 schools don't have air conditioning, they let school out two hours early.

MISC:

The Europeans no longer hate us. Now they just pity us. Pity the fool, as Mr. T would say. Man I hope we re-embrace freedom and traditional America values, restore America to a trajectory of greatness that won't be overcome for 100 years and then we can stick our tongues out at them and wag our fingers in our ears.

Hayek criticizes legal tender laws. The Constitution is silent on legal tender laws, so ours are unconstitutional.

After shooting off his mouth and starting a bench-clearing brawl, Brandon Phillips went 3 of 18 and led his team to four straight home losses to the division leader rival St. Louise Cardinals. I hope somebody on the Reds makes it clear to Phillips his behavior won't be tolerated again. I especially hope that Baker or Jocketty does it by suspending him and taking food out of his running mouth. Shut up and play you loudmouth jerk. But it will never happen. I predict the Reds' season is over because this loudmouth asshole flapped his gums, dragged this team down and nobody in the Reds' organization will be willing to instill the discipline necessary to win.
