Misc

I don't like cars doing things for drivers either, but I'm not against a car driving itself. I'm sure people who road horses lamented that young people would not be skilled horsemen because the car replaced the horse. Technology advances. Things get easier. This frees up time for other activities, trivial or profound. This is a good thing. The bad thing is the intermediate steps when people are still driving the car, but the car takes over for some things. It makes for lazy drivers and that makes for more accidents and deaths. It should either be all or nothing, like switching from riding a horse to driving a car. Then again, I remember hearing the same thing when I was a kid about automatic transmissions, and I still think every driver should know how to drive a stick. Of course, when you're driving an automatic, you never have to suddenly switch to a stick.
