Here's a bunch of pictures that in any other context would seem meaningless, but in this context, seem salacious. The press is doing a fabulous job of pushing this salacious non-story to cover up the real story of CIA secret prisons, gun running, trying to recover Russian Stingers and the assassination of the Ambassador who was at the heart of it all.

The CIA pretends to investigate itself regarding Petraeus as if agents didn't know about the affair before he was hired. What a charade.

Judge Napolitano cuts through the crap.

"In the modern era, office-holders with forgiving spouses simply do not resign from powerful jobs because of a temporary, non-criminal, consensual adult sexual liaison, as the history of the FDR, Eisenhower, JFK, LBJ, and Clinton presidencies attest. So, why is Petraeus different? Someone wants to silence him."

They want to silence him and distract us. He'll be lucky if he lives to testify.

"It's obvious that someone was out to silence Petraeus."

I wholeheartedly agree with this, but they failed. He's going to testify. The only question is whether he will lie or whether he will risk his life, his wife's his childrens', his friends' and so on to tell the truth. He won't. He's going to lie.

Israel attacks Gaza for second day.

Apparently the Hamas leader just assassinated by Israel was a major power promoting peace.

"Yesterday morning, hours before Israel assassinated Ahmed Jaabari, my counterpart in Hamas presented the draft to Jaabari and to other Hamas leaders. Senior Hamas leaders on the outside had already seen it and had instructed him to check the reactions to it in Gaza. I was supposed to receive the draft yesterday evening to present to Israeli officials who were waiting for me to send it to them.

That option is now off the table. Jaabari is dead and so is the chance for a mutually beneficial long term ceasefire understanding."

Like all governments, the Israeli government profits from war. Peace is just the opportunity to rearm and allow anti-war sentiment to die down. Permanent peace is anathema.

"It seems to me that some of the commanders of the Israeli army have been very frustrated that the previous agreements to return to calm left Israel in a weaker position, with Hamas calling the shots. They have been calling to rebuild Israel’s deterrence. Let them in Gaza feel the pain of a serious Israeli attack and then they will think seven times before shooting more rockets, is what they proposed. In the last days there has been a lot of talk from politicians, military experts and officers to return to the policy of “targeted killings.” This, they claim, would make the Hamas leaders hide for their lives and stop shooting at us. These military geniuses failed to realize that what never worked in the past will not work now either."

That's the wrong conclusion. These guys aren't dumb; they're just promoting their own interests. They advance their careers by carrying out attacks. They enrich their cronies by buying and exploding more weapons, and they get kickbacks for it.
