Free kibbles

ECONOMY:

Jobless rate tops 10 percent. How's that phantom recovery working out for you?

TAX AND SPEND:

If the $787 billion stimulus worked as well as Obama wants us to believe, why is he signing a new $24 billion stimulus and why is it being done so quietly? If stimulus bills really stimulate the economy, why don't we pass a multiple trillion stimulus bill every year? This is yet another straw on the camel's back on the way to Obama's goal of collapsing our economy. It's just amazing how strong our economy is after centuries of growth thanks to the freedom championed by the founding fathers, but it can't keep withstanding more oppressive burden. We're no longer adding to that strength. We're cannibalizing it to feed the political power games of the two parties. Funded by extending a tax on businesses. That'll help.

It's vogue right now to pretend that Democrats are the source of our spending problems. John Stossel highlights Republican hypocrisy on pork in a reminder that the same big-spending Republicans who spent us into the debt problem we have now are still in office and only pretending to support fiscal responsibility.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

Indian central bank dumping the dollar for gold. The crucial implication brought up in this article is that historically foreign central banks haven't taken advantage of Fed policies to make money. India did, and this a harbinger of things to come.
"Does India’s purchase signal a run on the dollar? Does it signal a rapid and widespread attempt by major players to divest the dollar in favor of hard assets? Not at this time. Bear in mind that China has already been accumulating hard assets for a few years now. There is no run on the dollar, but there is a steady movement away from dollars as a reserve asset in the coffers of central banks. A stroll on the dollar has become a brisk walk on the dollar, and there is a threat that this will become a trot on the dollar.
...
Viewed in this context, U.S. fiscal and monetary policies seem grotesquely out of step with reality. Yet another bout of massive inflation and debt creation in order to "create" a buoyant economy does nothing to address the basic political economic issues. While America ponders further socializing health care and further controlling and taxing energy use, it continues to debase its currency. This used to provide U.S. pressure for other countries to inflate their currencies. That situation appears to have changed. It now provides ever-greater incentives to other countries to abandon the dollar and revalue their currencies upwards against the dollar and gold. American legislators have not yet woken up to this fact, which entails serious changes in U.S. domestic and foreign policies."
Ron Paul exposes the Consumer Price Index scam and shows how it's being used to cheat seniors out of their benefits.
"According to the official Consumer Price Index calculation, life has gotten cheaper for the first time in decades. If the government can show statistically that the cost of living has gone down, not up, then they can make the case for not giving a cost of living increase to social security recipients. But does this match reality? Using older calculations of CPI, the cost of living has actually increased – by roughly 5 percent!
...
Economist John Williams of Shadow Government Statistics has estimated that if the original methodology of CPI had not changed, Social Security checks would be nearly double what they are today. This represents a lot of money that politicians have been able to literally steal from seniors, to spend on their own wasteful programs. One example of how they do this is to substitute hamburger for steak, which lowers the average price of that basket of goods.
...
It is bad enough that Washington imposes high payroll taxes on American workers. The least Congress could do is use the tax dollars for their stated purpose. Instead, seniors will have a harder and harder time trying to survive on a fixed income in an economy based on variables and deception."
I'm tired of conservatives lying to themselves, each other and to the rest of us - just like liberals. Al Qeada isn't going to destroy us. The federal government is. And soon. Our survival as a nation and as a culture depends on taking our power back from the aristocrats and severely restricting the size and scope of government. Any distraction from that just empowers the aristocrats and hastens our destruction. Osama bin Laden and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad understand that. Americans need to figure it out before it's too late.

HEALTH CARE:

House to vote on health care bill Saturday despite no official cost analysis first having been done. But Cato reports that young adults could see the prices of their health insurance premiums double. That's what they voted for when they voted for Obama. Vote may be delayed because Democrats still don't have enough votes. Or this could be a red herring. What's for sure is pressure on Democrats is working, and more pressure on Democrats may kill this monstrosity.

Democrats don't understand the Constitution. Republicans are no better. To the aristocrats the Constitution is a weapon to use against the other party, but meaningless to their own agenda.

Tea partiers protested Democrats' health care oppression plan in Washington yesterday. Unfortunately the shootings at Fort Hood dominated the news. Boehner is starting to act like a leader, but he's got a long way to go.

GLOBAL WARMING:

US blamed for delaying UN climate agreement. Good for us. I hope we get blamed for ending it permanently.

Obama attacks global warming skeptics. This guy has Alinsky so ingrained in his mentality, I don't think he could stop it if he wanted. Anybody who still thinks Obama is a moderate is certifiable. He would love to have been able to dictate Marxism in America in his inauguration speech. The only thing stopping him is reality, but he learned the process of bringing it about well from Alinsky, Cloward and Piven, ACORN, Wright and Ayers, and he's carrying it out fantastically.

POLITICS:

Good move by Republicans forcing Democrats to vote against requiring the census to ask if responders are citizens.

FOREIGN POLICY:

Russia preparing to invade Georgia again.

LOCAL:

The Onion comments on gambling in Ohio.

MISC:

I find it hard to believe there's not an ideological motive, at least in part, behind this Fort Hood shooting. And here comes the mainstream media to paint him as a victim because somebody called him a camel jockey. It's crazy how leftists' first instinct is always to blame somebody else as if the shooter had no control of his trigger finger. Between that and their irrational fear of guns, it makes me wonder if many leftists spend their lives fearing they might go on a shooting spree against their perceived antagonizers if they had access to a firearm. What I don't understand is how the army missed this. This guy was obviously disgruntled and sympathetic with the Taliban and insurgents in Iraq. Other officers had reported him for it. This just shows that the army is a government bureaucracy like any other.

Somali Muslims stone man to death for adultery, wait to stone his girlfriend to death until she gives birth. How do you negotiate with people like that?
