Local

A few days ago the Dayton Daily News reported that the guard base in Springfield was well positioned to avoid cuts or even gain from consolidation. Today it reports that 50 jobs are being cut. The so-called experts were wrong again. Don't believe any of the propaganda you read in the mainstream media.

Snow falls. Power fails to 2,500. That's probably the fewest number of people who lost power in any of these reports I've documented.

Auditor's crony to photograph properties.
"State law requires counties to maintain updates property information on each parcel to ensure fair property values, according to the auditor’s office. The city has contracted Tyler Technologies, based in the city, to photograph the exterior of every property in the county."
This is an economic fallacy. The only way to determine the value of a property is to sell it. It's worth the highest price it can obtain on the market at any given time. That price will fluctuate from day to day. This process has nothing to do with determining value. It's about fooling people into allowing the government to steal their money and enriching Tyler Technologies and its political patrons.

The government is granting imminent domain powers to a pipeline company to build an underground pipeline through Ohio. Here's why they do this:
"While upsetting some residents, the underground pipelines boost revenues for local governments."
The government doesn't care about the people. It's all about stealing more money.

Oakwood zoning restrictions prohibit business plan.
"Firehouse Subs wants to have 50 seats, the norm at its more than 500 other locations. Oakwood’s zoning code for a deli in a Neighborhood Business District permits only 24."
"“Zoning code is not something you sit down and read at night. I did think the negotiations had all been pretty much worked out with Firehouse,” Routsong said."
Oakwood government officials don't know their own zoning restrictions. And we wonder why our economy is in decline.

Kettering schools near the top in the state. This is faint praise.
