Politics

Resistance to Boehner bungled.
"Mulvaney blasts bunglers - Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., took to Facebook to vent his frustrations with the bungled coup: “…the Floor of the House is the wrong place to have this battle. The hard truth is that we had an election for Speaker in November – just among Republicans. THAT was the time to fight. But not a single person ran against Boehner. Not one. If they had, we could’ve had a secret ballot to find out what the true level of opposition to John Boehner was. In fact, we could’ve done that as late as Monday night, on a vote of ‘no confidence’ in the Speaker. But that didn’t happen…and at least one of the supposed challengers to Boehner today didn’t even go to the meeting last night. That told me a lot.”"
It couldn't be political theater if done in secret. This is theater, not anything real. This is to convince voters some Republicans don't support Boehner, and just enough were allowed to vote against him to maximize effect without forcing a second vote.

One of Boehner's "challengers" hosted a fund-raising dinner for him in October.

Republicans unanimously elected Mitch McConnell Senate Majority Leader.

I don't trust Jim Webb to be antiwar any more than Barack Obama.
"Speaking of Paul the Younger: there are parallels in their foreign policy stance, as well as their outsider status. Both ran against the establishment of their party – and won. Both heavily criticized the Iraq war: both foresaw in the Libyan intervention the ugly mess it turned out to be. And when it comes to Syria both have warned repeatedly against getting involved in what Webb has called "a five-sided conflict." Webb has opined that in all likelihood some of the rebels trained by the US have found their way into the top ranks of ISIS. On domestic issues, too, there are parallels: Webb, like Sen. Paul, has worked hard on reforming a criminal justice system both see as unfair to African-Americans and other minorities. "
I'm not falling for either of them.

Newly empowered Republicans never intended to stop Obama's executive amnesty.
