Local

The bomb squad has been in the news a lot. It might be the new SWAT, called to every crime to justify its existence. The pop bottle bomb proves to be harmless. Imagine that. People have been making similar things for years, but they never needed a bomb squad to deal with them. And if we have a bomb squad, how come it has to call Wright-Pat to have their bomb squad detonate suspicious objects?

Fear that Wright Patterson is losing clout in D.C. This is a well founded fear. Dayton cannot depend on Wright Pat to keep the economy limping along. The reality is Obama wants to expand the welfare state as aggressively as possible, and that means cutting the warfare state to help pay for it. The other reality is the US spends more on the military than the next 40 or so nations combined, and that's beyond stupid.
"Portman’s absence leaves less clout for the state’s key driver of economic development and national security and comes at a time of impending spending reductions and the possibility of a future round of military closures."
It shows how sad Ohio's economy is when Wright Pat is the key driver of economic development in the state. Worse, Dayton remains depressed even though it benefits from the key driver. That means Dayton's real economy is disastrously bad.

Fascist Dayton Development Coalition. The Downtown Dayton Partnership is also fascist. Economic development is counter productive. Public affairs is a marketing organization. Lets businesses and organizations like the chamber of commerce market the region.

Contrary to the alarmism promoted by the DDN last week, flu cases here are normal.
"“We haven’t seen any more flu this year than in other years,” said Dave Dysinger of Dysinger Inc., a precision machine company. “The epidemic hasn’t really affected us.”"
DDN: Nevermind.
