Free kibbles

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Lieberman proposes bill empowering the president to turn off the internet. This guy is almost as dangerous as President Obama. The good unintended consequence of this is other countries will swiftly move to make their internets operable without the US. They will connect around us and mirror data held in the US, and the internet will become more distributed than ever.

Firefox extension enables encrypted browsing on many major sites. Cool.

What's wrong with the internet that that the FCC wants to regulate it? Nothing from the people's point of view. The internet is the most successful marketplace in the world because it's virtually unregulated. From the politicians point of view, that's the problem. It allows free speech. It allows free commerce. It allows people to profit without paying tribute to politicians. Politicians can't stand that.

SOCIALISM:

I think the 14th amendment gives the feds the power to tell states to allow public safety workers to collectively bargain. That's why centralizing power is always a bad thing. No matter how good the intentions, and the 14 amendment was passed with the best of intentions, government always twists power around to harm the citizens.

ECONOMY:

Even government mouthpieces are predicting the private sector will contract in June.

Government-lovers have yet realize (or maybe they just don't want to admit) that this recovery is illusionary because the private sector is not recovering at all.
"Barry Switzer, the former head coach at the University of Oklahoma, once said "Some people are born on third base, and go through life thinking they've hit a triple." Among the fascinating aspects of the recent economic "recovery," probably the greatest is the failure of analysts to understand that this growth is none of the private sector's doing."
That's a good intro.
"Wall Street seems to have no concept at all that every bit of growth we've observed over the past year can be traced to government deficit spending, with zero private sector expansion when those deficits are factored out. As I noted last week, if one removes the impact of deficit spending, "the economy has recovered to the point where the year-over-year growth rate since early 2009 now matches the worst performance of any of the 50 years preceding the recent downturn." In effect, Wall Street's is seeing "legs" where the economy is in fact walking on nothing but crutches."
More and more people are realizing this. Remember government spending is one of the elements of the GDP calculation. Government can spend money having people dig ditches and fill them in and that spending will make GDP go up, but that has no relationship to economic recovery, and Obama's deficit spending and Bernanke's printing money have no relationship to any economic recovery. They just engines of illusion.
"If we fail to recognize that the "good news" reported over the past year is due not to a recovery in intrinsic economic activity, but instead to massive government intervention, we risk being blindsided as those synthetic effects gradually erode."
Tell me about it.
"On that point, it is notable that the Economic Cycle Research Institute (ECRI) reported Friday that its Weekly Leading Index has slumped to the lowest level in 44 weeks, and has now gone to a negative reading.
ECRI head Lakshman Achuthan is quick to point out that the downtrend in the WLI is not (yet) sustained enough to indicate an oncoming double dip. Then again, it's important to recognize how quickly the ECRI is likely to shift its position if we observe further deterioration. The WLI also moved to negative readings in 2007, but the ECRI cautiously avoided interpreting it as a recession warning until a few weeks later when the deterioration was sufficiently persistent."
Even mainstream organizations are starting to warn of a double-dip, however reticently.

Economic Cycle Research Institute (ECRI) weekly leading indicators (WLI) has been dropping steadily since October '09, accelerating down, and it just went negative.

TAX AND SPEND:

Obama urges G20 governments to go deeper into debt ostensibly to help the economy but really to do more damage. So far the entrepreneurs and the workers of the world have been able to overcome crushing sovereign debt, but the cracks are getting worse, and Obama wants to make sure to smash the world economy to smithereens.

New Jersey Democrats agree to pass Chris Christie's big spending cuts. See? It can be done. But we have make bigger cuts than that at the federal level.

GLOBAL WARMING:

Angry penguins replace polar bears as the propaganda weapon of choice for global warming frauds.

ENERGY:

The longer that live video of oil flowing from the leak is around, the more political toll it takes on Obama. But Obama just extorted a $20 billion from BP to buy votes for himself and his fellow Democrats so he could offset the political damage of his policies.

Incontrovertible evidence that Obama threatened BP if they didn't give him $20 billion to buy votes:
"Barton's comment set off a firestorm and Barton came close to being stripped of his position as ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee by the House GOP leadership. Joe Biden called the comments "outrageous," "incredibly insensitive" and "incredibly out of touch." Out of touch? Joe Biden is the one who leaned across the table during the White House meeting with BP and told them that if they didn't go along with the $20 billion fund to be administered by Obama's people, then Obama would "do it to them." And this isn't a shakedown? I think the American people would disagree with you, Joe Biden, and agree with Joe Barton. It is most of Washington which seems to be out of touch!"
There you have it. Obama illegally extorted $20 billion from BP. No wonder they want Barton silenced. I want to him to stand up and make his case. Do you think Holder will appoint a special prosecutor? BP made a series of bad decisions and that negligence led to the disaster in the Gulf, and they're being investigated for a crime. Obama is intentionally and illegally creating a disaster all across America, but he's not being investigated for crime.

Funny cartoon: Carville to Obama: Tell BP you're their daddy.

Despite Obama and Congress irresponsibly bashing BP (I know BP screwed up, but two wrongs don't make a right), more Americans want BP in charge of the cleanup than government. Heck yeah.

The Coast Guard decided to send the ships cleaning up the oil spill into port for safety inspections. Government is the stupidest organization ever invented by man.

Kevin Costner spent $24 million of his own money to develop machines to clean up oil spills. That's awesome. Good for him. He didn't just flap his gums like most Hollywood activists, he risked his own money, and he's going to get rewarded for providing a valuable service.

Judge Napolitano explains that government can't protect us from disasters. All it can do is make them more common and worse as they've done in this case.

WAR ON DRUGS:

US drug warriors bust giant Columbian drug cartel.
"Agents involved in Operation Pacific Rim said on Friday that the gang trafficked cocaine to every continent except Antarctica, with drugs bound for Europe and Britain smuggled through Spain.
They believe the gang were responsible for almost half of the cocaine on American streets, or more than 912 tonnes with an estimated street value of about $24 billion (£16.2 billion)."
As I type, new gangsters are moving in and fighting to take over this business. This might slow down shipments for a few months which will drive up the price so that a year from now the supply will be bigger than ever because the profits will be higher than ever. The new gangsters will be richer, more ruthless and more deadly than the last. Every seeming victory the drug warriors celebrate actually enriches and empowers the drug cartels to commit more murders, corrupt more politicians and control more territory. Every seeming victory is a loss for Americans and everybody else in the world.

POLICE STATE:

I didn't realize any state in the US executed people by firing squad any more. Maybe this guy deserved it, but I no longer trust any government institution including a jury to make that decision.

WAR:

This picture of an Afghan woman in full burka and face covering having her picture taken for a voter registration card symbolizes how foolish and destructive it is to mistake an election for freedom.

POLITICS:

Fake letter bursting with truth:
"Dear Prez Obama,

It was really cool to get to vote for u and all, but I really dont think this is gonna work. I dont like politics but I thought u were cool so I went to one of ur rallies on campus and all my friends and I had ur bumper stickers on our notebooks. But Im like really really mad about this oil spill. I mean its like our environment! Ya know? I love to going beach to get tanned and now I wont be able to if there is oil there. OMG. And there are other things like my dad still doesnt have a job. That sucks because my parents stopped sending me money every month, so when my friends wanna go out and drink and whatever, I cant go. Major bummer. Ya know? So I was like really really bummed because whenever I go to the student union, they are always have the TVs on MSNBC and even THEY say they dont like you anymore. And since I dont really like politics, I gotta believe that the TV people are right. So yeah .. I dont know if I am going to vote again. When is the next time you are running for Prez??
Luv Alwayz,

Maggie"
Awesome.

Yet another American woke up and realized that Obama is very much like George Bush (but worse). More and more people are realizing this. But anybody who couldn't tell that before the election proved he or she is not trustworthy of the vote, and I hope they will never vote again. I cracks me up that Obama keeps calling the administration of that Democrats slush fund administration by an independent third party - an Obama appointee. Right.

Most Americans would be less likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Obama.

LOCAL:

I do not believe that local children are living on one meal a day - the free meal they get at lunch. I think this is propaganda to push for higher taxes. Do it for the children. Naturally more people are taking advantage of the free meal though.

MISC:

A better pledge of allegiance.
"I pledge allegiance to the Bill of Rights

Of the United States’ Constitution,
And to the Republic which it [the Bill of Rights] protects;
One nation, under God, divisible,

With liberty and justice for all."
I like it, but it's still based on a socialist, conformist pledge that diminishes individuals, so I'll just say silent.
