Springfield is projected to collect record taxes in 2016 but still run a deficit.
"The city of Springfield is projected to collect a record $32.6 million in income taxes in 2016, but may be still facing a $2.1 million budget deficit. "
Only government.

I'm skeptical of this story about police arresting a man for drug possession during Mayor Whaley's porch tour.

Poor Mayor Whaley gets less money stolen from racinos to hand out to her cronies.

Dayton changes policy so red-light and speeding cameras will only issue tickets when an officer is present. The article cites lost revenue as the reason for the change, but I thought the cameras weren't about revenue.

Dayton's Persistent Surveillance Systems makes international news. Everybody under surveillance all the time is an abomination.

More on proposed plan to eliminate Dayton by merging it with Montgomery County. It would have fewer, but more unaccountable politicians.
"The committee is registered as a 501 (c)4 organization, a status often used by political action committees that conduct lobbying and campaigning. Leonard said the group would likely campaign to put the issue on the ballot in 2016.
A charter measure would go to every voter in Montgomery County, including Dayton’s suburbs, which concerns Owens."
Foley is lobbying and using taxpayer-paid time to expand his own power while disenfranchising Dayton voters. This plan is backwards from the ideals of the Founding Fathers. Instead of abolishing Dayton government, we should abolish the higher, less accountable government of Montgomery County.
"“The standard across the board is more efficient economic development. Most chambers of commerce would tell you that when a business is thinking about coming to your community, if they have to deal with multiple governments in the community in order to locate a business it slows down the economic development process,” Leonard said. “There are different tax structures you have to deal with, different elected officials you have to deal with. It really slows down the economic development process. Most businesses when they come to a state would like to talk to one entity and one entity alone and make it a one-stop-shopping situation for the business.”"
This is true, but you don't see it stopping the suburbs from growing.
"A committee list obtained by the Dayton Daily News contains several area elected officials, though none on the list are current Dayton office holders."
More disenfranchisement of Dayton voters.
"Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, a Democrat, said Tuesday she stays in the loop with Foley on city-county issues but was unaware of the Dayton Together launch."
Keep it secret.

This is the first crash I've seen reported in Dayton's I-75 construction zone in many months. I don't know if the DNN is purposely not reporting them because there were so many or if drivers just got used to construction and drove safer.

I'm happy construction will remove the lower dam, but what about the equally deadly higher dam?
"The colorful mural — a series of images of life along an active riverfront — will be painted on a concrete floodwall along the riverfront across the Great Miami from RiverScape. The artist is Amy Deal of Kettering."
Nobody in Dayton could paint the mural?
