War

Hillary Clinton compares Putin to Hitler. Putin is downsizing Russia's military, contrary to Hitler.

It was fascists backed by the US who took control in Ukraine.
"Our "mainstream" media shrugs off what it describes as the presence of "a few ultra-nationalists" at the Kiev protests, but this is nonsense: it is far more than a few. Indeed, the activists of the two main fascist parties in Ukraine – Svoboda and "Right Sector" – provided the muscle the insurrectionists needed to take over government buildings in Kiev and across western Ukraine."
Lovely.

Leaked phone conversations between EU and Estonian rulers shows that Ukrainian rebels hired snipers to fire at protesters, not the Ukrainian government. More.

Putin showed restraint in Ukraine because he was punished by the Russian stock market.
"Russia got slammed repeatedly Monday. True, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 153 points, or 0.9%. But that's nothing compared with the Russian market's tumble of nearly 13% — the equivalent of 2,612 Dow points. The Russian market rebounded 5.3% Tuesday."
Nice.

Also, maybe because Crimeans welcomed Russian troops.
"The Ukrainian forces which the coup leaders were trying to whip into a fury of attack on the lightly armed, walking Russian soldiers with no insignia put down their weapons and turned over major weapons to the Russians, including about 49 top-grade fighter planes [Mig 29's], much of the firepower of the Ukrainian air force.
The ignorant American officials were left sputtering absurdities and propaganda, such as, “This is like the Nazi Munich!” That’s totally absurd since the Crimeans were overwhelmingly joyful, largely because they are overwhelmingly Russians who never wanted to become Ukrainians against Russia when the collapse of the Soviet Empire led to the transfer of the Crimea to the Ukrainian state that broke off from Russia. They are celebrating a homecoming, not fighting a war against their fellow Russians."
Funny that's not in the US news.

After the west backed neo-nazis, mobsters and fascists killing people in Kiev's coup, we're supposed to be outraged that some Russia supporters in Crimea pushed European supporters. Maybe the Russian supporters are angry because their government was just stolen from them.

Since Americans have little fear of terrorists any more, the government is making Russia and Putin bogeymen again.
