Politics

Ted Cruz makes a phony statement about abolishing the IRS to gin up support for a supposed Presidential run even though he cannot become president because he was born in Canada.
"He wants to replace the IRS with a smaller agency that would collect postcard-sized income tax returns based on a flat tax rate"
An IRS by any other name would stink as bad. This article says he can become president.
"The U.S. Supreme Court has never ruled on the matter, but legal scholars generally agree the constitution does not require presidents to have been born in the United States. A report generated by the non-partisan Congressional Research Service essentially concluded that candidates born to American parents in foreign countries met the citizenship requirements for the presidency."
Cruz's mother is American and his father was Cuban, but that doesn't matter. He is not a natural born citizen, and nothing supposed scholars say can make him one. If this was true, the whole birther question about Obama would have been mute. The reason this didn't apply to McCain is he was born on a US base to a US serviceman.
