War

US and UK claim to suspend non-lethal aid to Syrian rebels after they score some victories. This seems bizarre.
"Non-lethal US aid provided to the rebels has included armoured vehicles, night vision goggles and advanced communications equipment."
I doubt the rebels enemies see this as non-lethal. I doubt they suspended the lethal aid the CIA has been providing for a couple years.

If Americans are safer today, then perpetual war works to make us safer. I don't believe it for a second, and this is why:
"Terror is certainly up and more lethal in a number of places overseas but it is neither monolithic nor pervasive. And it would also be correct to note that the surge is mostly in those places that have been destabilized by the United States for various reasons. "
That makes Americans a target. Sure, right now they're fighting US troops and puppet regimes overseas, but they know the US is the ultimate power they're fighting.
