As bad as you think the US government debt problem is, it's way worse. Here's the salient fact that portends the inevitable, fantastic crash of the US government and western civilization with it:

"If the average interest rate on U.S. government debt rises to just 7 percent, the U.S. government will find itself spending more than a trillion dollars per year just on interest on the national debt."

It's going to happen. It's impossible to avoid this.

Don’t count on it. Household wealth in the US rests on housing and wages. Housing prices might stop dropping; they are unlikely to enter a new bull market. The bubble wasn't just a housing bubble. We're suffering a sovereign debt bubble that is corrupting every sector of our economy. Housing, education, movies, cupcakes, god only knows what else. I believe this bubble is affecting every economic sector. No investment will escape the coming crash. The best we can hope for is to identify which sectors will be hurt less than others. And it seems precious metals are the safest haven.

The mainstream media reports that Ford is recalling 10,000 Escapes because of carpet problems.  Here's a story that passed by quietly last year: Chevy recalled Chevy Volts because batteries tended to catch on fire. Granted, the battery problem was publicized. Slightly. Compare that to the coverage of the carpet issue in the Fords. Do you think maybe the media is biased towards GM since it's owned by the government and Ford refused taxpayer dollars?

As much of a monster as I knew this guy was, his attack on Paterno really struck home what a corrupt, political tool he was.

The reason is that the top US leaders knew that gold was our only true tangible money. A few of our most knowledgeable leaders distrusted the Federal Reserve notes that we, the US, were printing and buying goods from the rest of the world with. They knew that with the growing US debts, we'd never be able to pay them off. And they knew that eventually, through spending and compounding, the growing debts and deficits would wreck the US economy and maybe even destroy our democracy."

That's why they're working so hard to loot the last bits of wealth they can squeeze out of us before the collapse.

Our economy, thanks the central banks, the banking cartel and the grotesque overspending by government is going to collapse. Barclay might pretend it's a White Knight, but there are no white knights. Dayton Construction

Here's the last Dayton construction update. Here's the same street they've been working on forever.

As you can see, very little has changed. They buried some pipes along the side of the road a few months ago. They added the sidewalks right after. They put out those trees in those bags at least six weeks ago, but they haven't put them in the ground. They added the light poles a few weeks back, but they don't work. In the distance you can see two heavy trucks sitting idle.

The added this road as an exit from the main road several months back.

They put that road in in a little over a month, but then they stopped working on it. The curbs aren't finished and they still have it blocked at the intersection in the distance of the picture. You can drive on it one way in the direction of the picture.

They did some work in the park too.

About two months ago they added back in pretty much the same playground equipment they had removed, but new. There's an additional, smaller play-scape, probably for smaller children. But after they put it in, they didn't finish it. The ground is still dug out about a foot below where they intend it to be. Of course people brought their kids to play on the equipment anyway, so they wrapped the yellow tape around it to stop that.

In addition, they dug a bunch a furrows around the same time, and in the same day they ran wire through the furrows and filled them back in. They started early in the morning and worked until dark that day which proves they can do work in reasonable time frame when they have an incentive, in this case liability for somebody falling in one of those furrows. A week or so ago they added the light poles, but they don't yet work.

This expensive piece of capital equipment has been sitting idle since the day it dug the furrows two months ago. In this picture, one piece of equipment is in use while the rest sit idle around it.

You can't see the equipment very well in this picture, but usually there's a bunch of idle equipment sitting out there. Today is unusual because there's a few workers around and one of the pieces of equipment is being used. But all this idle equipment and unusable resources are squandered wealth. This shows equipment and materials that have been taken out of the productive private economy and squandered in the parasitic political economy for over a year now. The Dayton Construction series has documented the squandering of wealth by just one, small government project of dubious value - value that can never be measured because it involves no prices - that started last June and should have been done last summer. But this kind of squandering of wealth is going on all over the city, the state and the country on a massive scale.

This could never happen in the private sector. Either the person in charge would be immediately fired or the company would go bankrupt. But politicians and bureaucrats have a different set of incentives than people in private sector. In the private sector, people are risking their own money on projects, so they finish them rapidly and with high quality so they can maximize their return on investment. But in the parasitic political economy, politicians and bureaucrats use these construction projects to show "your tax dollars at work". Obama even wasted our tax dollars on signs advertising just that for projects funded by his stimulus boondoggle. They're also used as socialist jobs programs that politicians never want to end, so they intentionally drag them out. They end up being the modern equivalent of digging ditches and filling them back in.

Labor unions hid $3.3 billion they spent on elections with the Labor Department instead of filing them with the FEC.

"Union spending has reached $4.4 billion over six years, not the $1.1 billion previously reported. Even the proletariat favorite the Service Employees International Union, which proudly waves the flag of entry-level employment, proves that you can get very, very rich off of poor people."

Union fat cats are just as prolific at looting and buying elections as corporate fat cats.

ECONOMY:

Nine of the top 10 states for business dominated by Republicans.

"It is indisputable, however, that most of the top states that occupy the top of the list feature lower tax burdens, little union power, and bureaucratic regimes that are less inclined to get in the way of economic growth."

This is another example of the real, if slight, difference between Republicans and Democrats at the state level.

Unemployment is way worse than the government tells us.

The coming crash will take one of two forms:

This echoes what David Stockman also said:

"What most other economic commentators still totally fail to grasp is that the terminal, economic death-spiral in which virtually all Western economies are now trapped bears absolutely no resemblance to any other deflationary collapse in the limited experience of these pseudo-experts. In a “normal” deflationary episode, by definition the value of the currency in circulation rises. This makes that currency an effective “safe haven”.
Similarly, in previous deflationary episodes when our economies were still solvent, bonds also represented a safe haven: loaning money to the most reliable debtors, sovereign governments. Neither of these parameters exists today."

This is why predictions are so hard.

It's going to hurt.

This total disconnect from reality is freaky.

What are the consequences of Amazon paying state sales tax? Amazon is moving in and driving local businesses out of business. Why wouldn't it? If the government forces them pay sales tax as if they were a brick and mortar company, they might as well become a brick and mortar company. A huge, distributed, brick and mortar company that can undercut the prices of local stores. The plutocrats win again.

Understanding Obama's language and position on the Bush tax cuts.

Sorry, Judge, but the US became a dictatorship long ago. Richard Nixon created the EPA and began regulating Americans on his own authority. How is that not a dictator? I'm sure there are earlier examples. Heck, Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase without a constitutional amendment even though he knew he needed one.

WAR ON DRUGS:

While Americans are calling for a border fence, Mexican drug dealers are digging tunnels. And you know they're smuggling people through those tunnels too. I keep saying that the illegal immigrants piggy-back on the much more lucrative drug smuggling business. If you want to stop illegal immigration, legalize drugs.

I have zero confidence in a report from corrupt ex-FBI director Freeh. This report stinks of corruption and propaganda. That Penn State officials allowed such a corrupt political hack do this investigation tells me the government really had them over a barrel and is screwing them for all they are worth. The regents probably made a deal to scapegoat Paterno and trash his reputation forever to save themselves from being prosecuted. I don't know if the government is carrying out a vendetta against Penn State and Paterno for something that happened in the past or if the government big-wigs just think that trashing Penn State and Paterno as thoroughly as possible is the best way to advance their personal interests.

For whatever reason, Google didn't allow me to find the term 'Freeh' when I searched this blog. Eventually I found it by brute force. This just backs up my opinion that government agents and their corporate subjects are killing Joe Paterno and Penn State for personal gain. Here's the article tried to link from the beginning:

Obama's war on our economy is working, stealing tremendous wealth from the American people, and I'm not surprised the rich are taking the biggest hit.

Third California city declares bankruptcy in a month. This is a good thing. It's part of the necessary healing process.

Peter Schiff on the impending calamity of government debt. US treasuries sell at record low rates. For now. As Schiff says, when those record low rates return to normal, the damage being done will create a tremendous crash.

Lew Rockwell got mad at me when I told him Ron Paul was destined to lose, and that he was being disingenuous by claiming he was going to win, but he publishes article about how great Paul did in losing. I told him this six months ago, and he got mad at me for it. I've been saying for a long time that the only way to limit government was for libertarians to take over the Republican party. I love that Ron Paul finally did what I had long advocated. It's like we were on the same page. But Paul didn't do it well. I appreciate Paul's efforts - I bought one of his bobble-heads - but as much as he energized a small percentage of Republican voters, I feel he missed an opportunity to energize far more and really compete for the nomination. He never spoke well. He never spoke simply. He never spoke with clarity. He never explained that all taxes are theft, so he was forced to equivocate on taxes. He never explained that every dollar the government spends makes us poorer, so he was forced to equivocate over government spending. And as much as he talked about printing money, he never explained that the Fed is a counterfeiting organization that steals from us all. I never went to a Paul rally, so maybe he said all those things at his rallies. But he never said them simply and clearly on the national stage, and I saw him every time I could when he was on the national stage, so he came off as an anachronistic old man instead of a man of principle. Ronald Reagan wasn't half the man Ron Paul is, but Reagan presented a powerful advocation of libertarianism during the 1980 campaign, and that's he won. That's why I voted for him. Ron Paul failed to do so, and that's why he lost even though I voted for him. There's a little too much deifying going on in the libertarian camp right now and not enough critical analysis.

The Washington Post calls out Obama for distorting Romney's tax info. Two weeks ago the Post called out Obama for distorting Romney's record on outsourcing jobs at Bain. It looks like the Bilderbergers have turned the Post against Obama too.

LOCAL:

Guess what UD is doing with all our tax dollars. Opening an institute in China. It makes sense for UD to take advantage of the tremendous opportunity in this free market zone which makes it a powerful economic and innovation engine, but I don't want to pay for it.

This article credits global warming for increases in lobster harvests, but while it might be caused by warm weather, it's not global warming. I understand that the person who publicly calls it in the right time frame will profit tremendously. But I'm impressed with government's ability to print money to fool people into supporting the declining status quo. When this collapse hits, it's going to be unbelievable because nobody in America has ever experienced anything like it in centuries.

The European, British and Chinese central banks all lower interest rates.

It's all about getting more of other people's money. Actual results will be published around the end of July, but...

So apparently it won't be done by the end of the July. What is the significance of finding the Higg's boson? More money for scientists. Let's all celebrate the God particle even though the scientists claiming to discover it won't say they discovered it. Talk about having it both ways.

How much do you want to bet that this so-called dark matter filament is a Berkeland currnent? Moreover, how much do you want to bet the scientists promoting this discovery know it? It seems to me that the establishment is under great pressure because of the political pressure to cut spending. Therefore they've produced press reports, not science, in order to save their funding of money government steals from others.

A couple of days ago I predicted that Republicans would team up with Democrats to pass the highway bill. I claimed they were just grandstanding. They passed the bill on Friday so the press wouldn't talk about it.

"The House voted 373-52 in favor of the bill, which was supported by every voting Democrat, while 52 Republicans opposed it. In the Senate, the tally was 74-19, with 23 Republicans joining every Democrat in voting for the measure."

Imagine that. Predicting this politics stuff is easy.

I have no confidence in this poll claiming most Americans want to just accept Obamacare. This poll showing an eleven point advantage for those opposing the law seems much more likely to me.

Democrats claim Obamacare is not a tax. Republicans confused about the tax. The argument over whether Obamacare is a tax or not is ridiculous. I think it's most likely the Bilderbergers convinced Roberts to support Obamacare. Obamacare one of the greatest looting programs ever devised, and this decision will likely boost Romney. The Bilderbergers win on both counts. Obamacare actually contains 21 taxes.

"“We anticipate that 95 percent of the 175,000 customers impacted by Friday afternoon’s storm will be restored by Wednesday night,” said utility spokeswoman Leslie Sprigg said in a news release.

 Sprigg said by 5 p.m. Sunday, the number of customers still in the dark was down to 25,000. A second, smaller storm that ripped through the northern Miami Valley boosted that figure 52,000. Crews worked through the night to bring that number down.

“We expect that smaller, localized outages will be restored by Friday,” Sprigg said. Crews are continuing to work around the clock."

It's absurd that we're using 19th century technology to deliver power in the 21st century. Victory for AC power.

Now we're getting alarmist predictions about solar cycle 24, supposedly lasting until 2026. Solar cycle 24 started in 2008, so that would mean an 18 year solar cycle even though the average is eleven years.

CERN scientists believe they have discovered the "God" particle, the particle that gives other particles mass.
