Dayton Construction

Here's the link to the last Dayton Construction post.

There's been a tiny flurry of activity in the park recently. They turned the lights on, but they were on day and night. Yesterday they had an electrician take apart one of the lamps, and now they only come on at night. Yesterday they also removed the trench digger after three months of so of sitting idle.

We got our first heavy rain in quite a while last week, and I noticed that at the intersection of the new main road to the Art Institute and the new road to the hospital, it floods.
That area never flooded before. When they created these new, unnecessary roads, they created a flooding problem too. That'll give them another excuse to tear stuff up again and squander more of our wealth.

On a related note, if you follow this Dayton Construction thread back far enough, you'll find pictures I took of all the construction projects within about a two mile radius of my house. I noticed this weekend that one of those intersections, Patterson and 2nd, is tore up again. It's been about three years, and they tore it up again. I'm telling you, this construction boondoggle is the modern, more insidious version of digging ditches and filling them back in.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

The piracy of music and videos across the internet was the excuse for SOPA and PIPA, but a leaked report from the RIAA shows that the bill wouldn't have stopped piracy and that most piracy still occurs in physical media, not across the internet. Remember how government used the Community Reinvestment Act to create the subprime loan crisis? Obama is doing it again.
"Yes, believe it or not, the federal government is now starting another initiative to force banks to lend to low-credit-rated blacks and Hispanics -- not just anybody but specifically blacks and Hispanics -- and is threatening -- and already imposing -- huge punitive fines if they don't. Moreover, this time they're going even further. They're going to take over the credit rating agencies and force them to change their standards to accommodate blacks and Hispanics so that nobody will have any idea who is a bad credit risk and who is not."
That's a new diabolical twist to the plan. I can just see Obama wringing his hands and laughing evilly.

EDUCATION:

Louisiana teachers unions announce they will sue any school which accepts vouchers in an attempt to keep students trapped in failing government schools. This isn't about the law. It's about making private schools pay a cost for accepting the vouchers, making the vouchers less valuable to the schools. Company finds that 80 percent of the clicks on its Facebook ads are from bots putting money into Facebook's coffers. This hints that Facebook is fraudulently clicking ads to boost revenue. If that 80 percent number is across the board, just wow.  But the company isn't accusing Facebook of anything because it can't prove anything.
"We built a page logger. Any time a page was loaded, we'd keep track of it. You know what we found? The 80% of clicks we were paying for were from bots. That's correct. Bots were loading pages and driving up our advertising costs. So we tried contacting Facebook about this. Unfortunately, they wouldn't reply. Do we know who the bots belong too? No. Are we accusing Facebook of using bots to drive up advertising revenue. No. Is it strange? Yes."
But since Facebook is profiting, it's a pretty good bet that Facebook is doing it. If true, that would be a phenomenal fraud, and the consequences would be fantastic.

To paraphrase Hamlet, will the depression be hyper-inflationary or deflationary? That is the question. Define hyper-inflationary. According to the statistics used by the federal government in 1980, inflation has averaged over 10 percent since 2006, and it's averaged around 10 percent since 2010. That means if you owned gold, you were smart. But from the other perspective, inflation dropped significantly, quickly during the 2008 crisis. We can expect the same when the crash happens. The answer is obvious. Buy and hold gold until the deflation hits, then sell. If you know when that transition is going to happen, tell me. But I'm being a little disingenuous. Gold will hold its value better than most everything else during the crash. But deflation is deflation, and during deflation, the best you can do is hold dollars. I know some of the Austrians think the dollar will be destroyed, but I doubt that. The pound has been around for 400 years. The dollar will survive this in name at least.

Bull****. That's exactly what his intent was. If he just wanted to work, he could have done so without posting anything. And whenever the groups met, whether in Africa or Europe, they did what came naturally — they bred. Who can buy that much debt?
"I believe global central banks will be monetizing debt in massive quantities between now and 2015 because large portions of debt will be maturing in just the next two and a half years."
What does massive global currency debasement mean for gold?
"Global currency debasement has been one of the main drivers for gold's appreciation and massive jumps in central bank balance sheets are also associated with kicking off big moves in gold. With the massive amount of debt to roll over just ahead and the likely increase in central bank balance sheets, we may just see gold head to new all-time highs as global investors move to protect their capital from the tidal wave of cheap money."

But spending $30,000 to cover the cost of a child’s education in a district that has one of the lowest graduation rates in the nation and produces some of the country’s lowest achievement scores? Seems a bit steep. But this is the hefty per-pupil bill taxpayers are made to foot for D.C. public schools every year."

Hurray for Houston.
"However, the agency itself is expanding, with Congress recently giving the green light for extra funding that has increased the number of unannounced TSA checkpoints beyond the 9300 that took place last year."

SOCIALISM:

Walter Block, great scholar that he is, is wrong about the right of free associators to create unions.
"I resist the notion that we have a "right to unionize" or that unionization is akin, or, worse, an implication of, the right to freely associate. Yes, theoretically, a labor organization could limit itself to organizing a mass quit unless they got what they wanted. That would indeed be an implication of the law of free association."
If Block stopped here, he would be fine. But he continues...
"But every union with which I am familiar reserves the right to employ violence"
But that anecdotal evidence cannot be an excuse to use violence to reject freely associative unions. What Block is pointing out is the general failure of the justice system to hold union associates accountable for violent acts. This is a different problem, and that problem can never be pushed back on people who freely associate.

RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS:

Firearms deaths including deaths by rifles have dropped since the bogus assault weapons ban expired in 2004, but you can bet as the US slides into chaos they will rise, and this is what politicians fear. They know they're destroying the country, and they want the people to have the tools to resist.

Grampa shows how to resist a massacre: shoot the bastards.

Immediately after the Aurora massacre, I tried to get the jump on the usual gun banners by claiming the victims had been forcibly disarmed by government. I did no research to back up my contention. I didn't have to. I can reason, so I reasoned that if government had not disarmed all those people, one or more of them would have shot that ***** in the head and saved many lives. But now I get the report confirming my position, as if I needed a scientific report to confirm the theory of gravity.
"Two days ago I asked the commonsense question, "Why didn't anyone fight back against James Holmes, the shooter who shot so many people in the Batman movie theater?"
Now the answer has become clear: Because Aurora, Colorado already has strict gun control laws on the books that make it:
  • Illegal to carry a concealed weapon, even if you're a law-abiding citizen.
  • Illegal to discharge a firearm in public unless you are a peace officer.
Thus, any person who would have shot James Holmes and stopped the massacre would, themselves, have been arrested as a criminal!"
Predicting mass murders is easy. The next one, like this one, will happen in a location in which government bans firearm ownership.

TAX AND SPEND:

Random thoughts from Thomas Sowell.
"Even squirrels know enough to store nuts, so that they will have something to eat when food gets scarce. But the welfare state has spawned a whole class of people who spend everything they get when times are good, and look to others to provide for their food and other basic needs when times turn bad."
This gets back to Mises's explanation that socialism is irrational. People cannot make rational decisions without prices to guide them. Much like the original American colonists died in droves because socialism was imposed on them, people on welfare can't make rational decisions either and are harmed because of it.

EDUCATION:

What if we took away government's power to corrupt education?
"In American culture, public schools are praised in public and criticized in private, which is roughly the opposite of how we tend to treat large-scale enterprises like Walmart. In public, everyone says that Walmart is awful, filled with shoddy foreign products and exploiting workers. But in private, we buy the well-priced, quality goods, and long lines of people hope to be hired."
If only...
"In short, if we could abolish public schools and compulsory schooling laws, and replace it all with market-provided education, we would have better schools at half the price, and be freer too. We would also be a more just society, with only the customers of education bearing the costs."
Half the price my ass. Private schools would cost much less than half the price, children would receive a significantly higher quality education, and as a bonus, students would learn that freedom and achievement while young translates into accomplishment and wealth creation as adults.

POLITICS:

The bickering between Romney and Obama over Obama's anti-business comments misses the mark.
"Putting aside the mundane -- roads, police, firefighters -- there is a deeper truth. Many businesses do not merely benefit from state intervention, but would sink without it. Big business's dependence on government has only increased as government has grown.
Yet liberals like Obama and Warren rarely confront the corporate interests that most rely upon Washington's redistribution of wealth to the powerful and socialization of risk. They love taking credit for subsidizing American businesses, but never address (or admit any responsibility for) the full reality of the corporate state. Perhaps they don't want the inequality they decry traced back to them."
Oops. These guys are admitting government creates the inequality they're supposedly against.
"The liberals and big business created the corporate state together. Business couldn't do it alone. "Somebody else made that happen," to quote the president. "
I'd substitute progressives for liberals, but this attack on cronyism rocks.

Pat Buchanan responds with a great political and ideological point.
"Obama's narrative does not tell us why some succeed and others fail. Does Obama understand America? For he surely does not seem to understand her history as once taught to every schoolchild."
Romney would be smart to challenge Obama on why some businesses succeed and others fail. Surely it's not because one had better roads to access than the other. And here Buchanan nails the most important point:
"Seeing government as antecedent to enterprise, Obama has it backward. In America, individuals, families, communities came first. Hardworking men and women built the society. Only after that did they send their best and brightest off to the House of Burgesses to discuss colonial issues. "
You can't tax people who have nothing. Government didn't build roads by itself. Government cannot produce anything on its own. First businesses had to become successful, then government could tax them for roads, police, etc. Government is a parasite, not a creative enterprise.
""Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon," said Winston Churchill."
Wow. Congratulations to Churchill for a fabulous, free market, quote.
"Obama belongs to category two. "
Sa-Lam, and rightly so. Too bad Buchanan missed the boat at the end...
"Which is the true creator of wealth and engine of prosperity?
Is it, as Obama believes, government?
Or is it, as Romney believes, people and their institutions and businesses that, though carrying the immense burden of government that consumes 37 percent of the economy, still employs six of seven Americans still working? That's the choice."
Romney's no better than Obama. Both believe that using the predatory power of government to loot the people is the way to advance their personal interests, and they're both right, to our great detriment.

Obama's negative campaigning is hurting his personal favorability rating which was the only thing he had going for him. Of course it was always a sham. As his associations and his campaigning show, Obama's a thug wearing a phony smile.

Polls of registered voters oversample Democrats, skewing them in favor of Democrats.

This is a bail and switch. The casinos didn't take away revenue. The collapsing economy took away revenue. And the coming collapse is going to take away more revenue from the cities and from the casinos. Few people will gamble while they're starving.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that paying people to not work increases unemployment, but you do have to be smarter than Obama.

One of the things seldom reported is how welfare programs enrich plutocrats. This article exposes how food stamps enrich government cronies.
"The basic movement of funds in the SNAP program start in Congress when billions of dollars are allocated in the Farm Bill, which is comprised of 78% funding for Food Stamps. The costs are split between the federal government and state governments. At every level of the process, big government and big business work hand in hand in the name of caring for the poor.
The Farm Bill is reapproved every five years; in the 2007 bill, the biggest lobbyists included the agriculture biotech giant Monsanto, which spent $8.8 million. Other large corporate lobbyists included American Farm Bureau, Kraft Foods, PepsiCo Inc., American Beverage Association, Tyson Foods, Coca-Cola Co, Wal-Mart Stores, and the GMA (Grocery Manufacturer Association).
Big Agriculture lobbies Congress knowing hundreds of millions of dollars are on the line for their corporations.  "

This is absolutely baffling. Out of at least 70 moviegoers (and maybe more, as numbers remain sketchy at the moment), it appears that nobody tried to tackle him to the ground, shoot back with their own gun, or even fight back in any way whatsoever. The accounts of witnesses are those of people fleeing, ducking and screaming... but not fighting for their lives. "
This is a grotesque illustration of how badly people have been corrupted by government and turned into victims and slave. Here's the most important questioon, but will never be asked government propagandists:
"How can a lone gunman fire off at least 100 rounds in a crowded theater full of people and have NOBODY fight back, shoot back or attempt to tackle him?"
They were disarmed by the government both physically and intellectually.

ECONOMY:

Government's massive interventions in our economy is producing...
"Poverty is spreading at record levels across many groups"
Just as any sane person would expect.

 GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Google trends tells us that Al Gore is a loser. But don't mistake this info. Billionaires are still funding this scam. It will not die while our rulers believe they can use this fraud to rob us.

POLICE STATE:

Japanese police arrest journalists for selling DVD ripping software.

The news is saturated with coverage of the Colorado lunatic, but in the mean time there's no coverage of the cop who went to the wrong apartment and killed a man. That was disingenuous. The news would never cover the second regardless of the first.

WAR:

Why our rulers fight perpetual wars.
"Butler, who had participated in many military interventions, came to realize that war allowed elites to gain while less powerful citizens and foreigners bore the conflict's financial, physical, and emotional costs."
They profit from them while every body else pays the price.
"While Keen’s analysis highlights the various functions of war, it also makes clear why policies based on those insights are unlikely to be adopted. The massive existing edifice that benefits from a permanent state of conflict will also work against non-interventionist policies. This edifice includes the array of bureaucracies, contractors, consultants, and international organizations whose very existence is predicated on the continuation of conflict."
Don't forget the bankers, CEOs, labor bosses and media kingpins who also profit tremendously.

Marines create Marine cops. Guess who will suffer at the point of their guns. Yeah. Us.

While the US media does it's service by distracting us for the real issues we suffer from, Will Grigg reminds is the deadly reality government uses to attract terrorists.
"Abdulrahman was sixteen years old when he was murdered by the United States government. He had run away from home in a desperate attempt to find his father, Anwar, a "radical cleric" who was the well-publicized target of the Obama administration’s assassination program.
Despite the fact that Anwar al-Awlaki was never formally charged with a crime – let alone convicted of one – he was assassinated on Obama’s orders two weeks before the Regime slaughtered his son and eight other innocent people. "
I hope his surviving family doesn't kill your family or my family, but what we know for sure is our government created new terrorists with this action, and every American is in more danger than they were beforehand.

TAX AND SPEND:

You might be surprised, but sometimes I'm at a loss for words. Take this story for instance.
"California’s State Parks Department has millions of dollars in surplus that they did not report to the state, even as budget cuts threatened park closures."
Sometimes the level of depravity exhibited by bureaucrats overwhelms even me.

Bankruptcy filings by California's cities are just the tip of the gigantic bankruptcy spear to follow.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

The government versions of the money supply may surprise you. The countries with the worst problems are suffering a reduction in money supply. But hat makes perfect sense. If they weren't their economies would still be foolishly growing. The PIIGS are the countries that will rebound first because the market cut off their debt expansion, and therefore their inflation, first. Note that China and Germany, generally considered strong economies, continue to inflate. But that inflation can't continue.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Fracking responsible for lower US CO2 emissions. Who cares? CO2 emissions have no effect on climate or my life. Is it lowering my energy prices? That's what I care about.

POLICE STATE:

Are you surprised that the TSA is acting illegally? Hello? They molest people for a living. That's illegal. Why would they obey any other law?

I've said a million times that if we had a free market in information sharing technology, market actors would offer privacy at a price. Even though we don't have anything approaching a free market, Google is offering privacy on Youtube videos. Now if only they'd do the same for everything else.  It's a start.

WAR:

Obama builds Osama bin Laden doll house and puts it on display. I have no problem with the government building this model for training purposes. I have a tremendous problem with them displaying it in a testosterone, chest-beating display of barbarity. You know, the same kind of disgusting celebration of barbarity Obama enjoyed after OBL was killed before he lied about his burial at sea.
"One email by Fred Burton, the firms’ vice president of intelligence, said the body was “bound for Dover, [Delaware] on [a] CIA plane” and then “onward to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda [Maryland].”"
I believe the smart people, not the dumb one.

Cato supplies a fine commentary on the precarious relations between the US and Pakistan.

POLITICS:

This story about June financing contradicts previous reports that Romney is outraising Obama. Apparently Obama is still out-raising Romney by a large amount. Frankly, I don't believe it. Just as the big money went to Obama four years ago, I think the big, Bilderberg money is going to Romney now. Don't get me wrong. Obama is undoubtedly better at raising money from small donations, especially on the internet. But the last I reported, Romney had raised $100 million in June. Obama had raised only 70-some million. So these numbers don't make sense with those. But the Bilderbergers have chosen Romney, and they have all the money.

I think this election is the last of its kind. For god knows how long, every election has been funded by more money. Between increases in government spending and the Fed printing money, more and more money has gone into elections. But I believe we've reached a saturation point. Granted, Ohio is the battle-ground of all battle-ground states, but it seems two out of every three commercials are political commercials. People are getting pissed. I hear about it every time I go out. People are angry that politicians have taken over their TVs. I think the push-back is going to be profound. When you couple that anger with the soon-to-be next economic collapse, I think elections will never be the same.

I guess I should weigh in on Obama's claim that nobody got rich on their own.  Obama is half right on this. Nobody got rich on their own. But he's all wrong about who helped people get rich. The government didn't help anybody get rich except the oligarchs and the plutocrats. But plenty of people acting in our system of voluntary exchange did. A business owner must cooperate with suppliers, employees and customers. It takes cooperation with all those people to get rich. Government is an obstacle in that process because it steals your money and it restricts your interactions with those people you cooperate with. So, Obama is right that nobody got rich on their own. That's like saying no newborn child was dumped in the jungle and became a millionaire. It's a worthless statement. The reason he's wrong is he attributes all cooperation to government coercion when in fact government coercion is the enemy of cooperation.

MISC:

The latest Colorado shooter is being called the Batman shooter.
"New York City’s police commissioner claims Holmes had painted his hair red and called himself “Joker.” Joker’s hair is obviously green, but this unconfirmed report didn’t stop Fox News from running with the whole tired “Does violent entertainment make people violent?” hand-wringing."
My girlfriend reminded me tonight that Reagan's would-be assassin wanted to impress Jodie Foster, so should we ask if Jodie Foster makes people violent? Should we ban Jodie Foster? This shooter is nuts, but we don't have to respond in an equally insane fashion.
"It’s all cosplayers’ fault!: AMC at their theaters."
Like that. Really. We can call this spade a spade. We'd don't have to respond as insanely as he did.

SOCIALISM:

Here's the truth behind Obama and GM's claims that Obama's bailout turned GM around:
"Car dealerships’ lots are filling up with unsold trucks and SUVs because GM built more vehicles than it can sell in order to inflate sales claims and artificially boost its profits, The Daily Caller has learned."
This is an election stunt. By Christmas, dealers will be giving these cars away.

ECONOMY:

David Stockman believes the price of all assets will fall, so he's holding dollars and gold as a hedge. That's what happened in 2008, so it's likely to happen again, but that's after the inflation. The inflation is happening now. The hard part is figuring out when the switch will come and adjusting accordingly.

TAX AND SPEND:

Obama's so-called tax on the rich will do significant harm to small businesses. The IRS agrees.

HEALTH CARE:

More health care corruption.
"Hospitals are ignoring state regulations that require them to report cases in which medical care harmed a patient, making it almost impossible for health care providers to identify and fix preventable problems, a report to be released today by the Department of Health and Human Services inspector general shows."
Like the bureaucrats are going to fix anything. They're the problem, not the solution. The hospitals aren't reporting because that doesn't make them money, and it makes them look bad.

GLOBAL WARMING:

Writer compares Michael Mann's hockey stick graph to Jerry Sandusky's assaults on children. I'm flabbergasted. There is no comparison here, and I'm sure the original author would choose different words in retrospect. But I also don't believe there's any comparison in institutional culture for these incidents. Michael Mann has been exposed as a scientific fraud, but there is no way to compare scientific fraud to the rape of children.

POLICE STATE:

FBI failed to investigate Fort Hood shooter because of political correctness. And you thought the police protected you. Wrong. They protect the government from you.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Man successfully argues stripping to protest TSA was protected speech.

SOCIALISM:

Expose shows unions are all too happy to take taxpayer money to dig ditches then fill them back in.
"Tocci and Hutchings say that this is just the sort of stuff that happened under FDR in the 1930s with the Works Progress Administration. “They dug the roads up, put ‘em back!” says an animated Tocci."
Gosh. Where have I seen them do that?

ECONOMY:

Charts show that wages, adjusted for inflation, have been falling for decades. I keep saying that our economic problems have been a century in the making. Maybe these charts will wake people up. Our ancestors suffered because government looted a little, then they suffered more because government looted a little more, then they suffered a lot because government looted a lot. Now we're suffer collapse because government has looted us beyond our ability to overcome that looting.
"We see two things in the chart above on average American wages. First we see how (in real dollars) wages for the average U.S. worker have been falling steadily for more than 40 years. Those wages have now fallen by more than 50%, all the way down to the same levels as during the Great Depression. And we see how the U.S. government’s lies about inflation have almost entirely concealed this relentless collapse in wages. How convenient."
It's convenient for Fed chairmen, presidents and congressmen, they get rich off the looting, but the rest of us get poorer.

Even the Federal Reserve is admitting its actions enrich the rich and impoverish the poor. You think I'm joking...
"A report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York suggests that the bulk of equity returns for more than a decade are due to actions by the US central bank. Theoretically, the S&P 500 would be more than 50 percent lower – at the 600 level – if the bullish price action preceding Fed announcements was excluded, the study showed. Posted on the New York Fed’s web site Wednesday, the study sought out to explain why equities receive such a high premium over less risky assets such as bonds. What they found was that the Federal Reserve has had an outsized impact on equities relative to other asset classes. For example, the market has a tendency to rise in the 24-hour period before the release of the Fed’s statement on interest rates and the economy, presumably on expectations Chairman Ben Bernanke and his predecessor, Alan Greenspan, would discuss or implement a stimulus measure to lift asset prices. – CNBC"
If you thought I was lying to you over the last few years, this report should assure you I'm not. This is just one many ways the government enriches rich people and impoverishes everybody else. In fact, this is an indirect way which is just an add-on to the many direct ways government officials enrich rich cronies with money stolen from the rest of us.

Canadians are wealthier than Americans.
"For the first time in recent history, Canadians are richer than Americans.  That is to say that the average Canadian household is worth more than the average American household.  And we aren’t talking about a few bucks.  Nope.  The average Canadian household is worth more than $40,000 more than in America.  Canadians are also more likely to be employed and their real estate is worth more."
That's because they have greater economic freedom than we do.
"They cut the size of government.  Why did they cut the size of their government?  Because they had to. In the 1990s, they had to make tough decisions because they were facing the same crisis that we are currently facing: An exploding national debt and a growing entitlement crisis.  So in the 1990s, Canada took steps to shrink the size of its government."
But Americans aren't that smart. They failed to nominate the only candidate in the race who wanted to cut government.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

Democrats' corrupt banks.

HEALTH CARE:

To me, this has long been known. Obamacare didn't expose it, but for many it did.
""[T]he majority has at all times a right to govern the minority, and to bind the latter to obedience to the will of the former…. In a general sense the will of the majority of the people is absolute and sovereign, limited only by its means and power to make its will effectual."
~ Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, III, 327, 330
"The scientific concept of dictatorship means nothing else but this – Power without limit, resting directly upon force, restrained by no laws, absolutely unrestrained by rules."
~ Vladimir Lenin
A constitution merely prolongs the pretense that a political government can be limited by laws that it will interpret. Eventually, every constitutional government will embrace Lenin's ruling formula – "Power without limit, resting directly on force.""
It's a matter of principle. The laws of humanity never change. If you grant the government the power to steal from you, it will steal from you until you stop it. If you grant the government the power to order you around at the point of its gun, it will order you around at the point of its gun until you stop it. The US government, because it was small for a century and a half, managed to convince us that we're free. That's a lie. We're not free. We're the most docile and servile people in the western world. Our government has used that propaganda to become one of the most oppressive governments in the western world, and that's why we are doomed to the greatest economic collapse since the fall of the Roman Empire.

Scientists confirm the paleo lifestyle.
"Endorsed by the world-wide scientific community including top doctors at the Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins, and UCLA, and approved as curriculum for registered dieticians (RDs) by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the single largest meta-analysis of health and fitness ever conducted shows that conventional “eat less, exercise more” approaches are far less effective than going Primal, harm our health, and lead to fat gain 95.4 percent of the time."
This is good news.

WAR:

Our government rulers are masters at starting wars on all fronts then persuading the people that we're surrounded by people who want to kill us. Orwell would be proud.

It turns out that boat the US Navy ship fired on in the Persian Gulf was an Indian fishing boat. The Navy killed one and injured two others. The Indians claim they gave no warning.

FOREIGN POLICY:

Proving himself to be a consummate tool of the CIA, the king of Jordan declares that Syria's chemical weapons could be seized by al Qaeda. What he doesn't mention is that the al Qaeda elements in the rebellion are being supported by the CIA and its regional stooges. How ironic, if by ironic I meant murderous. I'm so disgusted by the government that claims to rule in my name, I want to puke.

POLITICS:

Political ideology determines how we perceive temperature.

Obama's jobs advisors haven't met for six months because they disagree with Obama's policies. More.
"Revelations about the comical neglect and disintegration of the White House jobs council come immediately after the president said he didn't think building a business was much of an accomplishment anyway. His jobs council hasn't met in six months and doesn't have plans to meet again in the near future. Many members haven't endorsed the president, he has ignored many of the jobs council recommendations, and one of the council's key staff members appears to have quietly left for a job . . . in China! Is this sad, funny, pathetic or all of the above? How can the president keep a straight face when he talks about reducing unemployment, ending outsourcing, etc., if we give him another four years in power? "
Sociopaths have no problems keeping a straight face. Ever.

MEDIA:

Major media outlets give Obama veto power over stories.
"A confession in yesterday’s New York Times reveals that even the stenography produced by our nation’s most esteemed media outlets is anything but accurate: rather, it’s contrived and distorted by the very people whom these media outlets purport to cover adversarially. The article describes how many American media outlets, including the NYT, give veto power to the Obama campaign (and, less so, to the Romney campaign), as well as political offices generally, over the quotes of its officials that are allowed to be published:"
And you thought the press was adversarial to government.

Microsoft suffers first ever quarterly loss.

Argument that Google's pile of cash means there's no new technology to invest in. Government has outlawed innovation.
"[Google]has 30, 40, 50 billion in cash.  It has no idea how to invest that money in technology effectively.  So, it prefers getting zero percent interest from Mr. Bernanke, effectively the cash sort of gets burned away over time through inflation, because there are no ideas that Google has how to spend money....
if we're living in an accelerating technological world, and you have zero percent interest rates in the background, you should be able to invest all of your money in things that will return it many times over, and the fact that you're out of ideas, maybe it's a political problem, the government has outlawed things.  But, it still is a problem...."
That's a pretty good, and sad, argument.

TAX AND SPEND:

This methodology for calculating spending under a given president is wrong. First, presidents can and do affect spending as soon as they take office. They inevitably pass a "transportation bill" that's a big handout to their supporters that takes effect immediately. Obama passed his $800 billion stimulus boondoggle in February, and it started funding projects by May. Second, new budgets are passed in the summer (except by Harry Reid's Senate which refuses to pass one). It doesn't take a year for a president's new spending to take effect.

The US already has the most progressive tax code in the industrialized world.

Another major instance of government failure, this time find the Climategate leaker.
"Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Superintendant Julian Gregory, said: “Despite detailed and comprehensive enquiries, supported by experts in this field, the complex nature of this investigation means that we do not have a realistic prospect of identifying the offender or offenders and launching criminal proceedings within the time constraints imposed by law."
I doubt this government failure will be publicized.

The interviewer pointed out that investigative journalists are labeled as 'terrorist helpers' for trying to reveal the truth, to which Drake said the government's take is 'you go after the messenger because the last thing you want to do is deal with the message.'"
We did this to ourselves.

The prosecution has been trashing Zimmerman by releasing cherry-picked info to make him look bad, and the media has been slamming since long before that, but apparently we're supposed to be outraged that Zimmerman has gone on TV to defend himself. To us, this seems bizarre, but get used to it. In our world of a collapsing economy and deadbeats staring at TV all day, this is the new justice system. I'm just surprised the judge has allowed Zimmerman the freedom to defend himself in public. That's really bizarre. This is the future of our injustice system. OJ was just the beginning. Judge Judy is just the current phase. Soon, all cases will be available on pay-per-view, and the ones with which get the most viewers might give the victims, by which I mean the defendants, half a chance. Kind of like the Running Man but without the action and the chance for success.

Which gets back to claims the CIA has infiltrated and controls the mainstream media.

FOREIGN POLICY:

Retired member of SEAL Team 6 lauches anti-Obama PAC. It was bad enough when the Bilderbergers abandoned Obama, but this is like a knife in his political heart.
