A network of operatives then fanned out to rapidly withdraw money in multiple cities, authorities said. The cells would take a cut of the money, then launder it through expensive purchases or ship it wholesale to the global ringleaders. Lynch didn't say where they were located.
It appears no individuals lost money. The thieves plundered funds held by the banks that back up prepaid credit cards, not individual or business accounts, Lynch said."

The government always wants us to believe there are ringleaders because, if it can capture the ringleaders, the problem is supposed to be solved. But it's not true. Terrorism, organized crime and the drug trade continues no matter how many supposed ringleaders they kill or capture. I'm sure the same is true for hackers.

Those are impressive numbers, and they explain why Obama resists increasing intervention.

"But the numbers shift when the public is asked if it would make a difference if the Syrian regime used poison gas. In that case, opposition to U.S. intervention drops to 44-to-27 in Reuters/Ipsos."

No wonder the warmongers work so hard to convince Americans that Assad used chemical weapons.

Intelligence report identified vulnerability at Boston Marathon finish line.

"Five days before two bombs tore through crowds at the Boston Marathon, an intelligence report identified the finish line of the race as an "area of increased vulnerability" and warned Boston police that extremists may use "small scale bombings" to attack spectators and runners at the event.
The 18-page report was written by the Boston Regional Intelligence Center, a command center funded in part by the Department of Homeland Security that helps disseminate intelligence information to local police and first responders."

This reeks of inside job.

"The "joint special event assessment" is dated April 10. It notes that at the time there was "no credible, specific information indicating an imminent threat" to the race.
"The FBI has not identified any specific lone offender or extremist group who pose a threat to the Boston marathon," the report reads."

Yeah, right. It's just coincidence that the FBI and two amateurs identified the exact same target and method of attack, then the amateurs successfully pulled off the attack under the noses of hundreds of security personnel and bomb-sniffing dogs.

What incredible lawlessness.

Economist claims one of the reasons many people promote gun control is they fear they will commit suicide. I don't think I buy that argument. Do they also support car and bridge control? But I've long argued that most non-government people who advocate gun control do so because they have self-control problems. They don't trust themselves with a gun so they don't trust anybody else with a gun. On the flip side, most firearm supporters don't have self-control issues. They carry and use firearms their entire lives without incident. Of course rulers support gun control because they fear their prey will use firearms against them.

In it, Feith tells of a golf course conversation between Barry Mills, the president of Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine, and philanthropist Thomas Klingenstein. Klingenstein voiced disapproval of campus celebration of diversity and ethnic differences while there's "not enough celebration of our common American identity."
Because Klingenstein wouldn't help finance the college's diversity craze, Mills insinuated, in remarks to the student body, that Klingenstein is a racist. Mills also told students: "We must be willing to entertain diverse perspectives throughout our community. ... Diversity of ideas at all levels of the college is crucial for our credibility and for our educational mission."
Klingenstein decided to check out Mills' commitment to diverse perspectives by commissioning the National Association of Scholars to examine Bowdoin's intellectual diversity, rigorous academics and civic identity."

The report found no diversity of ideas, only radical leftist bias. No surprise there.

Two Democrats defeat an independent in Dayton's mayoral primary election.

"Whaley has received 4,965 votes, and Wagner came in second with 2,566 votes. Mayor Gary Leitzell lost with 2,338 and will not advance to the November election."

This election is a travesty. Only 9,869 votes were cast. According to Wikipedia, the 2011 population estimate for Dayton is 142,148. That means less than seven percent of Dayton citizens selected our mayoral candidates. That means over 93 percent of Dayton's citizens reject the system. Probably the only thing worse than having majority mob rule with all its self-proclaimed legitimacy is to have minority mob rule with the same self-proclaimed legitimacy.

At least the DDN mentions the small turnout.

The rejection of the system is much higher now.

The horrific details of their captivity are coming out.

"Khalid Samad, a former assistant safety director for the city, said law enforcement officials told him that the women were beaten while pregnant, with unborn children not surviving, and that a dungeon of sorts with chains was in the home."

I can't imagine the pain nor the joy the victims and their families feel, but I'm happy for them.

The kidnapper's son wrote a news story about the kidnapping of one girl for which he interviewed the victim's mother.

In an admission of the futility of the coercive police state, the DDN reports that it's very rare for missing people to be found.

$800,000 of the promised $1 million reward will go to couple tied up by cop turned cop killer Chris Dorner who subsequently freed themselves and informed cops of where to find Dorner. I bet the other $200,000 was reneged on by governments.

If local authorities raided this home, what is the FBI involvement? This guy is probably another patsy entrapped by the FBI. I wonder if the local police raided the place before the FBI wanted them to.

This might seem in Israel's self-interest if funds were unlimited. When western governments go bankrupt, Israelis will pay a terrible price for this.

Now that the Huber Heights music center is a done deal, the DDN does some real reporting showing how these businesses tend to lose money. Previously they were non-committal on competition. Now they report,

"The $18 million Huber Heights music center will create an even more competitive market in a region saturated with entertainment venues, local and national experts say."
"“If I’m John Doe and I’ve got $400 to spend on entertainment at two facilities within 20 minutes, I’d look at both facilities and see where I want to go,” Schwieterman said. “But it’s not just about the Fraze and Huber Heights. There are a lot of venues in this region competing for entertainment dollars.”"

Previously they reported the city had allocated $1 million for property. Now they report,

"A recent $2.31 million property acquisition from Meijer will accommodate the Huber Heights music center and GoodSports Enterprises’ $22 million fieldhouse. Both will be built along the south side of Executive Boulevard, west of Meijer near the Interstate 70 and Ohio 201 interchange."

And they report on how rarely the Nutter Center and the Fraze make a profit.

"The Nutter Center hosts about 220 events per year, and the last two fiscal years have resulted in a minor profit for the Nutter Center, Brown said. In previous years, it has been in the red."
"The Fraze lost money in 17 of its previous 22 years of operation and had to subsidize from the general fund 14 times, but not since 2006. From 2010-12, the city generated a profit, including a jump from $278,278 in ‘11 to $660,838 last year, which Schwieterman said was a result of a “great lineup.”"

Who cares if you lose money when you can legally steal from others. This optimism from Huber Heights people is either stupid or evil.

By then, the city projects to annually generate about $2.3 million in revenue and profit $400,000, according to a Conventions, Sports & Leisure study."

"We often hear anecdotes about police traffic-ticket quotas around the country. But we rarely hear about prosecution quotas. At a Federalist Society symposium in Austin, Texas on March 2, a former federal prosecutor named Julie Rose O’Sullivan (now an Associate Dean and Professor of Law at Georgetown University) admitted in public that federal prosecutors file charges simply to get their "numbers up" by the end of the year. By increasing their "numbers" of prosecutions, O’Sullivan said, a U.S. Attorneys Office gets more funding the following year. (Start listening at the 54 minute mark.) Professor O’Sullivan even said that the various state and federal prosecutors around New York City fight intensely among each other for cases, so vast are their collective resources compared to the level of actual crime in the greater New York area."

Prosecutors are clearly motivated by self-interest, not justice, just as one would expect.

"Virtually every measurement illustrates the increased tendency of American courts to favor the prosecution during the past century. Numbers and percentages of Americans being prosecuted have steadily grown; rates of multi-count and multi-defendant indictments have gone up steadily; conviction rates have increased; numbers of prisoners have quintupled since the 1980s; and average prison sentences have lengthened. Even average bail amounts have increased much faster than the rate of inflation.
As the playing field has tilted, the vast majority of defendants now simply surrender and plead guilty. Consequently, trials are disappearing. University of Wisconsin Law Professor Marc Galanter attributes this trend to "a shift in ideology and practice among litigants, lawyers, and judges." In essence, the legal profession has abandoned its commitment to adversarial technicalities and has embraced the greater efficiency of top-down inquisitorial justice."

I always heard that lawyers rush to make deals, but that hasn't been my experience, though I'm sure some lawyers are like this. Most of the lawyers I've met relish trying cases. (The casualties in New York, unusually large for a terror attack, if folded into the year’s traffic casualties would hardly have been noticed.) They stimulate the victim society to damage itself. TSA, Homeland Security, militarized police, warrantless searches in train stations, ever-tightening electronic surveillance of citizens, neutering of the Constitution and the abrogation of civil rights: bin Laden didn’t do these things. He couldn’t possibly have done them. He stimulated us to do them to ourselves. Genius."

We didn't do them to ourselves, though many supported them. Our rulers did them to us. This shows how our rulers profit from terrorist attacks against us. This is why our government plays into the hands of the terrorists. Terrorism benefits both terrorists and our rulers. They win. We lose.

"Here on the pampas the Argentines know better. Their brains have been sharpened by adversity and enlarged by necessity.

"Every day, it is a struggle to keep up with it," says a friend who runs a small business in Salta. "You have to figure out what the peso is worth... and you have to decide if you'll do a deal in pesos or dollars. And if you do it in pesos, you have to figure out how to trade dollars for pesos... or vice versa."

This week, the peso dropped to nearly 10 to the dollar. Officially, the rate is only 5.5 to the dollar. Big difference.

We need to buy a new hay baler. The price is quoted in dollars – about $50,000. You pay in pesos at the official rate... so that's about 250,000 pesos. But wait – if you have dollars and can trade your money on the black market, you will save $25,000.

"The trouble is, the government is watching," says our informant. "They'll want to know where you got the 250,000 pesos... it can get very nasty if you don't have your paperwork in order.

"But there are ways."

The Argentines know they're getting ripped off by the government. They find ways to protect themselves."

It's going to get like this in the US when people start using alternative payment methods to the dollar.

The only thing unusual about severe weather currently is the lack of it.

Too bad the frauds have staked out a position where they hope for severe weather.

Police State

Security expert explains that accumulating more data hinders, not helps, security.

"'Piling more data onto the mix makes it harder, not easier. The best way to think of it is a needle-in-a-haystack problem; the last thing you want to do is increase the amount of hay you have to search through."

That's exactly right, and everybody in the security services knows it. Collecting less data would be better if the goal of the government was to secure the people from threats. But that isn't the goal. The goal of the government is to secure the government from the people. To the government, we're all prey, and therefore we're also all potential threats. The police state is about controlling the people, not protecting us.

As if to verify my claim, former FBI counterterrorism agent reports that all US phone calls are recorded.

"BURNETT: Tim, is there any way, obviously, there is a voice mail they can try to get the phone companies to give that up at this point. It's not a voice mail. It's just a conversation. There's no way they actually can find out what happened, right, unless she tells them?
CLEMENTE: "No, there is a way. We certainly have ways in national security investigations to find out exactly what was said in that conversation. It's not necessarily something that the FBI is going to want to present in court, but it may help lead the investigation and/or lead to questioning of her. We certainly can find that out.
BURNETT: "So they can actually get that? People are saying, look, that is incredible.
CLEMENTE: "No, welcome to America. All of that stuff is being captured as we speak whether we know it or like it or not.""

And people are worried about internet privacy.

"On Thursday night, Clemente again appeared on CNN, this time with host Carol Costello, and she asked him about those remarks. He reiterated what he said the night before but added expressly that "all digital communications in the past" are recorded and stored:"
"Let's repeat that last part: "no digital communication is secure", by which he means not that any communication is susceptible to government interception as it happens (although that is true), but far beyond that: all digital communications - meaning telephone calls, emails, online chats and the like - are automatically recorded and stored and accessible to the government after the fact. To describe that is to define what a ubiquitous, limitless Surveillance State is."

I keep warning people. They keep not believing. I'm sure they also keep all law enforcement surveillance footage.

The war on drugs has created super-potent marijuana. If you're going to risk producing, transporting or smoking marijuana, you go for the most potent you can get. It was the same in during alcohol prohibition. If you were going to risk filling a truck with alcohol, you were better off loading it with white lightning than beer. Same if you were distilling it or drinking it. And that's why so many more people died.

The Afghan Communists produced fakes tapes supposedly showing bin Laden demonstrating how the attacks were made. These fakes tapes ran widely on US TV.
The 9/11 attacks were planned in Hamburg, Germany and, apparently, Madrid, Spain, not by al-Qaida in Afghanistan, as the US claimed. The planners and executors of the attacks were mostly Saudis, not Afghans."

Bush said the evidence of bin Laden's guilt would be presented, but it never was.

"After the attack, US Secretary of State Colin Powell demanded Afghanistan’s Taliban government hand over bin Laden. Taliban refused to do so without a proper extradition request detailing bin Laden’s involvement in 9/11. Powell promised to issue a White Paper about bin Laden’s guilt, but never did so. Why? Probably because the US could not assemble a convincing case. US forces invaded Afghanistan and began their hunt for the elusive bin Laden."

I didn't know the Taliban only refused because they lacked a proper extradition request. Stupid of them. As principled as they might have been, they're all dead now.

Sibel Edmonds claims the US has been aiding the Chechens against the Russians.

Danny claimed that the only word of the brothers’ conversation that he understood was “Manhattan,” and that the terrorists had asked him if his car could leave the state – say, to get to New York. The Globe’s one-source report proved nothing – and was unverifiable by other reporters or citizens – but it suggested much, leading to a spate of equally unverifiable reports that New York had been targeted."

It served the government's purpose of scaring people.

"As I previously blogged, the sheriff of Palm Beach County, Florida, one Rick Bradshaw, recently got a million-dollar grant from the state legislature to use to spy on citizens and recruit people to spy on and "report" their neighbors if they think they are too critical of government.  He wants people to report "the guy down the street who hates the government . . ."  Then the governmental critic will be sent for mental health evaluation, and his life possibly ruined."

The economy added 165,000 jobs, more than expected, in April. That doesn't sound like much to me, but it ignited a stock market rally. Official unemployment fell to 7.5 percent. There's no info on how many people dropped out of the work force. But it's not all good news.

"The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note rose sharply as traders moved money out of bonds and into riskier assets like stocks. The yield rose to 1.72 percent from 1.63 percent the day before, its lowest level of the year."

That means debt just ate up a much larger portion of government's budget. It also signals an increase in price inflation.

Here's some sage advice.

The data also showed a drop in the average number of hours people worked per week – perhaps indicating that orders are slowing, causing businesses to cut back on overtime and add more part-time workers. This jobs data can't explain the stock market burst.

Typically, in cases of homegrown terror, only one type of explosive is constructed."

Then maybe the narrative isn't true.

"Additionally, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told investigators the building of the bombs came together more quickly than expected, according to sources. The brothers reportedly had planned to set off the explosives on July 4, but changed their plans when the bombs were finished early."

That was convenient. Or maybe they had help or a supplier. I wonder how this guy, shot in the hand and the throat, is communicating this narrative that just happens to work out so well for the FBI. More on the narrative.
