Federal Reserve

The Fed and FDIC recommend banks buy gold, promoting it to a tier one asset, equivalent to cash. This is a big deal.

"In essence, what's happening is that from now on gold will be considered "money" in virtually the same way as cash or bonds."

As if central banks buying gold wasn't enough impetus to buy gold.
