"Also disturbing was a passage in a recent New York Times interview. The commander-in-chief was asked why he was months late ordering air attacks on ISIS. Obama explained, "We did not just start taking a bunch of airstrikes all across Iraq as soon as ISIL came in because that would have taken the pressure off" Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki et al.He's also using it as a tool against Assad.
And, Obama reasoned, those Shiites would have thought: ‘We don’t actually have to make compromises. We don’t have to make any decisions. We don’t have to go through the difficult process of figuring out what we’ve done wrong in the past. All we have to do is let the Americans bail us out again. And we can go about business as usual.’”
Which makes us wonder how many thousands of Iraqi crucifixions, exploding heads and beheadings happened while the U.S. president applied pressure to Maliki?"
Obama announces new, illegal war supposedly against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. This war is illegal because there is no authorization of force covering Syria or ISIS since it's not affiliated with al Qaeda.
"Obama once again ruled out American troops fighting on the ground directly against ISIS, saying the U.S. is strengthening its military and diplomatic support for the Iraqi government, Kurdish fighters and the moderate Syrian opposition. A senior administration official said the government of Saudi Arabia agreed last week to become a “full partner” in efforts to equip Syrian fighters, including hosting effort to train the forces fighting ISIS."This is how Obama created ISIS in the first place. The supposed moderate Syrian opposition is just a front for ISIS. Obama himself said there is no moderate rebel force in Syria.
"“This idea that we could provide some light arms or even more sophisticated arms to what was essentially an opposition made up of former doctors, farmers, pharmacists and so forth, and that they were going to be able to battle not only a well-armed state but also a well-armed state backed by Russia, backed by Iran, a battle-hardened Hezbollah, that was never in the cards,” the president said."Yet that's what he did before, when those supposed moderates took their training and weapons and joined ISIS, and it's what he says he's going to do now. Hillary.must be getting a good laugh from that, but it will benefit ISIS again. From the TIME story:
"More than 1,000 U.S. military personnel are in Iraq protecting American facilities and advising and training Iraqi and Kurdish forces. Obama announced that he will send an additional 475 American troops to Iraq to expand the advisory, training and surveillance missions based in Baghdad and the Kurdish city of Erbil, bringing to 1,600 the number of U.S. troops in the country."The number of boots on the ground just keeps increasing. Obama's going to topple Assad, and terrorists, ISIS or somebody like them, are going to take control of Syria.
US wars create new enemies so the wars never end. This is wonderful the military-intelligence-industrial complex.
David Stockman gets it.
"Washington either means to eradicate the Islamic State root and branch in a Normandy style invasion and occupation of the Sunni-Euphrates valley or its just inviting vengeance and blowback that will pale into insignificance that which has occurred to date—including that which occurred exactly 13 years ago. Dropping bombs from high altitude aircraft, or launching Tomahawk missiles from distant ships or dispatching drone payloads via video consoles in Nevada may kill a few ISIS warriors and leaders along with thousands of innocent Sunni civilians in the territories they now occupy. But in the end it will amount to jabbing a hornets nest with a short stick."Yep.
"After all, just hours before the President delivered up his 13 minutes of vaporous rhetoric, double-talk and self-contradiction, the Homeland Security Department had testified on capitol hill that it had no evidence that ISIS was planning an attack on US territory or had the capacity to accomplish one. The closest it could come to identifying a tangible ISIS threat was chatter on Twitter."Exactly.
"The silly, naïve man in the oval office has signed up to a bombing campaign which will enrage the hordes of medieval butchers encamped in the Islamic State, hoping that a rag-tag bunch of buccaneers that mostly issue press releases from Turkey, and which recently sold one of the beheaded Americans to ISIS for $50,000 according to the public testimony of his best friend and confidant, will keep them contained and finish off the job."Even Obama doesn't believe this is what will happen.
"In a sane world, this would be considered an impeachable madness. In today’s Washington, however, Obama’s ludicrous “no boots, all air” strategy amounts to a three week placeholder. It will be soon engulfed in escalation as Admiral McCain and the rest of the war party demands stepped-up retribution for the next string of beheadings and grizzly media stunts by ISIS in response to the bombings."Obama is ramping up his new war, the war he wanted since before announcing air strikes against Syria a year or two ago, step by step.
"Needless to say, there is a better way. The best safeguard and only real protection against the theoretical threat of the Islamic State is vigilance and enhanced public security at home. And coupled with it, an end to pointless bombing campaigns in Muslim lands that mainly succeed in destroying American tanks, artillery pieces and other equipment left behind in earlier delusional campaigns."It's a nice dream.
Obama's plan all along was to attack Syria.
Saudi Arabia beheadings.
"This week, Private Eye reported that in the 21 months between James Foley’s capture in November 2012, and his subsequent beheading by ISIS militants on August 19, 2014, Saudi Arabia beheaded 113 people. However, it isn’t clear as to which organization, beheaded more people."But the Saudis sell oil denominated in dollars.
ISIS only has 20,000 to 31,500 fighters.
New European sanctions put on hold during Ukraine ceasefire.
Unlike Europeans, erratic Obama keeps pushing sanctions on countries that are doing what we want.
Madison, the Father of the Constitution, adamantly argued the power to declare war lies with Congress, not the president. That's explicit in the Constitution.
Mainstream articles acknowledge US wars create more terrorists.
