Immigration

House Republicans including Paul Ryan are sneaking around behind the scenes, using the budget fight as cover to pass amnesty. This might be what this entire charade is about.

War on Drugs

After 80 years of the war on drugs, one media outlet admits the obvious:
"The international war on illegal drugs is failing to curb supply, despite the increasing amounts of resource being ploughed into law enforcement activities, finds research published in the online journal BMJ Open.
Since 1990, the street price of has fallen in real terms while the purity/potency of what's on offer has generally increased, both of which are indicators of availability."
But the war on drugs has been fabulously successful at stealing money, killing people and imprisoning millions. To our rulers, that makes it a resounding success.

Health Care

Some dufus professor at Pace University in New York, as if New York was known for start-up computer businesses, says that Obamacare will promote start-up businesses because entrepreneurs were unable to buy health insurance before, but now they can. This is absurd. The economic fallacies and propaganda never end. How far does the media have to sink to find some idiot to make a statement like this? Apparently none of the ultra-leftist professors around Silicon Valley would make this claim, and rightly so.

But the £3billion figure for UK sales is included in its US accounts. The online search giant has long claimed that its UK operations are a service arm of its Irish division."

And people wonder why the economy stays in the gutter.

Global Warming and Energy

The debate on global warming comes down to how sensitive the climate is to CO2. IPCC AR5 doesn't provide a number, unlike the previous four reports.

IPCC AR5 hides the pause.

The market for expensive electric cars is nil.
"Turns out the Tesla is the third best-selling high-end car in California (where it doesn’t get too cold, an important consideration for an electric car) just behind the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5.
Sounds good – and is touted that way by the moo-cows of the media. But how many cars did Tesla actually sell?
So far, about 4,714. Out of about 1.6 million cars sold in California annually.
And with regard to those 4,714 Teslas, “sold” is probably not quite the right word to describe a transaction that involves a $7,500 kickback from Uncle (who steals it from you and me first) plus another $5,000 kickback from the state of California, which of course has stolen it first from the poor fools out there who continue to buy Corollas and Camrys and so on at full-fare on their own nickle. California also throws in – courtesy of more of other people’s money – a “credit” for installing the high-voltage charging station the Tesla needs in order to take less than several hours to re-juice itself. The charging station costs a another couple thousand for the electrician and the necessary parts."

Prohibitionists are sadists.

Police State

NSA literally maps the lives of Americans.
"McGruber writes "The New York Times is reporting on yet another NSA revelation: for the last three years, the National Security Agency has been exploiting its huge collections of data to create sophisticated graphs of some Americans' social connections that can identify their associates, their locations at certain times, their traveling companions and other personal information. 'The agency can augment the communications data with material from public, commercial and other sources, including bank codes, insurance information, Facebook profiles, passenger manifests, voter registration rolls and GPS location information, as well as property records and unspecified tax data, according to the documents. They do not indicate any restrictions on the use of such "enrichment" data, and several former senior Obama administration officials said the agency drew on it for both Americans and foreigners.'"

Health Care

Here's a bunch of baloney about Ohio health insurance marketplaces.
"While some members of Congress are still out to kill the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare, insurers are jumping at the chance to compete in the new health insurance marketplaces created under the law.
On Tuesday, most states will unveil new health insurance marketplaces, where millions of Americans — including nearly 1.5 million uninsured Ohioans — can shop for and purchase health insurance coverage in one place.
But the marketplaces won’t just create opportunity for individuals and small businesses to buy insurance for the first time. They will also open new opportunities for insurance companies by making private coverage more affordable for the uninsured more widely available to those who currently don’t have access to coverage."
We're supposed to believe government created a marketplace and government made health insurance cheaper. Both are absurd. This is a propaganda story intended to convince people Republicans are bad for wanting to defund Obamacare. You can tell from the first line.

War

Why is it now time to defund the Syrian rebels? We should have never have funded them. This is more info on how the rebels have rejected western attempts at control but love the weapons the US has been giving them for two years, which they will use against Americans as soon as possible.
"Once you go down this rabbit hole, you wind up in a kind of Syrian Wonderland, where things get curiouser and curiouser.
There we learn this radicalization is the fault of those unreliable Americans, who have "betrayed" the rebels by not bombing and failing to arm them with the really big guns. According to Syrian National Council spokesman Louay al-Mokdad, "they told us they signed this because they lost all hope in the international community. They said: ‘We are really tired, Bashar al-Assad is killing us, all the West is betraying us, and they want to negotiate with the regime over our blood.’"
Yes, those poor babies are tired – after all, beheading infidels really takes it out of you! It’s hard on the arms. Burning churches, destroying entire villages, not to mention car-bombs – what could be more exhausting? I mean, have a heart!"
This is our government's fault, but for the opposite reason. Arming the rebels empowered the jihadists who now control the movement. Remember how the US invasion of Iraq brought al Qaeda in on its coattails? This is worse.
"So does this mean our recently stepped-up effort to arm the rebels is a non-starter? Not so fast: President Obama recently signed a waiver exempting the Syrian rebels from a law prohibiting US aid to terrorist groups."
It's official. Obama is arming terrorists.
"It all works out very neatly for both sides: the rebels get their guns, and the administration gets a fresh justification for the Surveillance State, because, you know, the Bad Guys really are out to get us. Yes, war is a racket, as Gen. Smedley Butler famously opined, but more than just money is involved. "

If you were thinking that foe was the NSA itself, you'd be wrong. It was the media!
Multiple senators, while defending the NSA's tactics and surveillance programs, made sure to get a dig in at those awful people in the media who revealed those tactics to the world."
The media better watch out. Government allows it to exist only if it serves government.

Global Warming and Energy

IPCC takes a new tact to scare people, setting an arbitrary upper limit on CO2 emissions that will be surpassed in decades. This is exactly what governments want to advance their socialist, redistributionist agendas, but it has no relationship to climate.
"The world’s top climate scientists on Friday formally embraced an upper limit on greenhouse gases for the first time, establishing a target level at which humanity must stop spewing them into the atmosphere or face irreversible and potentially catastrophic climatic changes."
We've heard this so many times. Al Gore, James Hansen and others have predicted points of no turning back, and they've been passed, so they just push them down the road. Now the IPCC is doing pulling the same stunt, but they were smart enough to put theirs decades down the road to keep the issue alive for decades. But nature won't accommodate them again.
"The panel, in issuing its most definitive assessment yet of the risks of human-caused warming, hoped to give impetus to international negotiations toward a new climate treaty, which have languished in recent years in a swamp of technical and political disputes. The group made clear that time is not on the planet’s side if emissions continue unchecked. "
This is funny. Not funny, ha ha, but funny, evil. Faced with irrefutable evidence of a 16+ year pause, they ramp up the alarmism.

Expensive energy kills poor people.

IPCC AR5, the summary for policymakers of which was released today, is already obsolete.
"For example, just this past May, a blockbuster finding was published that the climate sensitivity—how much the earth’s average surface temperature increases as a response to increasing greenhouse gas concentrations—is some 40% less than the average value characteristic of the collection of climate models that the IPCC used to produce the projections of future climate change—projections which are at the heart of the IPCC reports. But by the time this paper was published (and several others with similar conclusions), it was far too late to go back and try to fix the climate models and then rerun the projections.
The  fact is that the IPCC’s climate models need fixing. Prima facie evidence is that they cannot even track the evolution of broadest measure of climate, the earth’s average temperature, for the last 10-20 years.  Despite this being widely obvious to everyone, it didn’t find its way into the scientific literature (although not without trying) until earlier this month.
As a result, the latest science on two key issues: how much the earth will warm as a result of human greenhouse gas emissions, and how well climate models perform in projecting the warming, are largely not incorporated in the new IPCC report."
That's good for the politicians who fund the frauds.
"Which renders the new IPCC report, and its “four years’ work by hundreds of experts” not only obsolete on its release, but completely useless as a basis to form opinions (or policy) related to human energy choices and their influence on the climate.
The IPCC report should be torn up and tossed out, and with it, the entire IPCC process which produced such a misleading (and potentially dangerous) document."
That would be bad for the politicians who fund the frauds, so it will never happen.

This is why I call them frauds:
"The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) is criticising the IPCC for its deliberate attempt to obscure the reality of an ongoing temperature standstill and its failure to come clean about the failure of its models."
They lie to make money.

Global Warming and Energy

The German government exhorts the global warming frauds to stick to the fraud.
"German ministries insist that it is important not to detract from the effectiveness of climate change warnings by discussing the past 15 years’ lack of global warming. Doing so, they say, would result in a loss of the support necessary for pursuing rigorous climate policies."

But equally interesting is the tale of the dog that did not bark in the night. The crowds of angry Americans concerned about their loss of privacy gathering in front of the White House failed to materialize because the story, unreported in most of the media, quickly disappeared down the memory hole. NSA wants to hire an Orwellian named Civil Liberties and Privacy Officer to fool people into believing it cares about those things.

It can't be an accident that the Washington Post is calling for a phony Privacy Czar the same day. This is orchestrated.

In an article about an independent panel reviewing NSA spying, even the Washington Post puts the word independent in quotation marks.
"Stung by public unease about new details of spying by the National Security Agency, President Barack Obama selected a panel of advisers he described as independent experts to scrutinize the NSA’s surveillance programs to be sure they weren’t violating civil liberties and to restore Americans’ trust.
But with just weeks remaining before its first deadline to report back to the White House, the review panel has effectively been operating as an arm of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which oversees the NSA and all other U.S. spy efforts."
I'm shocked.

The navy yard shooter, suffering from schizophrenia, had called police for help and they refused to help him.
"On Aug. 7, that same Alexis had called police from a Newport, R.I., Marriott. He was hearing voices. Three people were following him, he told the cops. They were sending microwaves through walls, making his skin vibrate and preventing him from sleeping. He had already twice changed hotels to escape the men, the radiation, the voices.
Delusions, paranoid ideation, auditory (and somatic) hallucinations: the classic symptoms of schizophrenia.
So here is this panic-stricken soul, psychotic and in terrible distress. And what does modern policing do for him? The cops tell him to "stay away from the individuals that are following him." Then they leave.
But the three "individuals" were imaginary, for God's sake. This is how a civilized society deals with a man in such a state of terror?"
It's not about a civilized society. It's about individuals. Society didn't fail him. Individual police officers did. Police departments tend to attract violent individuals, not caring individuals, and their training and interactions with other police promote the violent tendencies and quash the compassionate tendencies. This illustrates once again the de-civilizing effect of government.

Get your money out of banks.

Remember how the government was going to restrict and shrink the too big to fail banks after the bailouts? They lied.
"The too big to fail banks are now much, much larger than they were the last time they caused so much trouble.  The six largest banks in the United States have gotten 37 percent larger over the past five years.  Meanwhile, 1,400 smaller banks have disappeared from the banking industry during that time.  What this means is that the health of JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley is more critical to the U.S. economy than ever before.  If they were “too big to fail” back in 2008, then now they must be “too colossal to collapse”.  Without these banks, we do not have an economy.  The six largest banks control 67 percent of all U.S. banking assets, and Bank of America accounted for about a third of all business loans by itself last year.  Our entire economy is based on credit, and these giant banks are at the very core of our system of credit.  If these banks were to collapse, a brutal economic depression would be guaranteed.  Unfortunately, as you will see later in this article, these banks did not learn anything from 2008 and are being exceedingly reckless.  They are counting on the rest of us bailing them out if something goes wrong, but that might not happen next time around."
Thanks, government.
"Ever since the financial crisis of 2008, our politicians have been running around proclaiming that they will not rest until they have fixed “the too big to fail problem”, but instead of fixing it those banks have rapidly gotten even larger.  Just check out the following figures which come from the Los Angeles Times
Just before the financial crisis hit, Wells Fargo & Co. had $609 billion in assets. Now it has $1.4 trillion.Bank of America Corp. had $1.7 trillion in assets. That’s up to $2.1 trillion.
And the assets of JPMorgan Chase & Co., the nation’s biggest bank, have ballooned to $2.4 trillion from $1.8 trillion.
We are witnessing a consolidation of the banking industry that is absolutely stunning.  Hundreds of smaller banks have been swallowed up by these behemoths, and millions of Americans are finding that they have to deal with these banking giants whether they like it or not."
This is the goal. It's the new feudalism. Government is stealing all the wealth in the country and funneling it into the giant banks. When the economy and the government collapse, they'll own everything. These banks are irresponsibly leveraged, and the derivatives are tried to interest rates. If they go up, the banks go broke. I think they'll just default with impunity and own everything.

The Fed owns more debt than the US government amassed through Clinton.
"Since the beginning of September 2008, in fact, the Fed's ownership of Treasury securities and MBSs has increased seven fold."

Peter Schiff says the Fed understands the weakness of the economy, unlike many in the establishment, and that's why it refused to reduce printing.
"Bernanke has maintained that his purchases of government bonds should not be considered “debt monetization” because the Fed intends to only hold the bonds temporarily. In recent years however talk of actively selling bonds in the portfolio have given way to more passive plans to simply hold the bonds to maturity. But this is a convenient fiction. When the bonds mature, the Fed will have little choice but to roll the principal back into Treasury debt, as private bond buyers could not easily absorb the added selling that would be required to repay the Fed in cash. Judged by his own criteria then, Bernanke is now an admitted debt monetizer."

Economy

Here's an analysis of the Chinese economy.
"DeWeaver: In the 1980s and early 90s, high growth rates were primarily the result of economic liberalization. Since the late 90s, however, Beijing has had to rely increasingly on state-led investment to prop up GDP growth. By now, the efficiency of this investment has declined to the point where it is no longer possible for the economy to grow at double-digit rates. China has reached the limits of investment-led growth, but will be unable to transition to a productivity-led model as long as the economy continues to be dominated by the state. "
On the skyscraper index.
"Mises Institute: In terms of predictions, China has nearly completed its tallest skyscraper. Do you feel that this will result in a correct “signal” of the Skyscraper Curse and “cause” an economic crisis in China?
DeWeaver: Yes, I think the crisis is already here. China is not only home to the world’s tallest building but also to 87 percent of all buildings over 152 meters now under construction worldwide. This skyscraper craze is but one example of the massive misallocation of resources that has resulted from indiscriminate investment promotion by local governments.
Mises Institute: We have also read that they have broken ground for a project to build the world’s tallest skyscraper and that they will complete it in record time. This would result in a world economic crisis signal. What have you heard about this and do you think they will complete the project?
DeWeaver: This project, known as Sky City, was halted a few days after the groundbreaking because the developer had failed to get the necessary government approvals. While the local government no doubt supports it, I think the central government is unlikely to allow it to go ahead. Beijing’s view is evident from a recent editorial in the People’s Daily, which called Sky City “impractical” and “irresponsible” and even cited [Andrew] Lawrence’s finding that record-breaking skyscrapers are often harbingers of economic crises."
Not good.

According to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, average household (inflation-adjusted) income has jumped by 23.3% to $66,583 in D.C. between 2000 and 2012. During the same period median household income for the rest of the country has fallen by 6.6%, from $55,030 to $51,371."

No longer permitted. That's clear.
"But, to be clear, Starbucks will not slap an outright ban on guns, he says, because enforcing such a ban "would potentially require our partners to confront armed customers.""
That's not clear. No matter how you look at it, this is going to cost Starbucks business and make them more dangerous.
"For Starbucks, which has been embraced by the gun lobby for permitting guns in stores in those parts of more than 40 states that allow them, it's a major change of policy certain to have immediate blow-back from pro-gun enthusiasts."

Federal Reserve

There's been lots of debate for a long time about whether or not the Fed will ever really slow money printing. Many said it would announce a slowdown today. It did not. This is a big boost for the people who said it would never slow down. Stocks hit a new bubble record in response.
"In a statement following a two-day policy meeting, the Fed said it would continue to buy $85 billion per-month in long-term U.S. Treasuries and mortgage-backed bonds to "help make broader financial conditions more accommodative" to promote a stronger economic recovery. The market was expecting the Fed to start reducing its asset purchases by roughly $10 billion to $15 billion per month."
The policy hasn't worked for years, so best to continue it.
"Virtually every asset class moved higher on the news. Both the S&P 500 and Dow Jones industrial average, which were down prior to the Fed statement, hit record highs after the announcement. The tech-filled Nasdaq rose to a fresh 13-year high."
These are obvious signs of a Fed-induced bubble that keeps getting bigger.

Apparently rents and medical costs aren't inflation.
"U.S. consumer prices barely rose in August, but rising rents and medical care costs pointed to some stability in underlying inflation that could make the Federal Reserve more comfortable trimming its bond purchases."
